Those are my final predictions. Put Borini as Signing of the season.. I think he will be great with Suarez. I also put us above Manchester United assuming we still have Robin Van Persie. (pretty sure he'll stay)
Brendan Rodgers a good enough manager to take Liverpool 3 places up at least. And I don't see Chelsea doing that well this season to be honest. (assuming they aren't signing anyone else)

Hope you're right!
Mine are currently under the assumption that RVP leaves. If he does stay I could definitely see you getting 2nd.

I put Liverpool as Europa winners and Arsenal as FA Cup Winners.. both risky predictions but you have to go with your gut.
There should be a deadline to edit your predictions perhaps on Transfer Deadline day?

Ehh I don't think this will be active enough to need it. I imagine the usual suspects will post theirs within a week and it'll die a slow death after that

EDIT: Actually, I'll dig up the other one and see who was closest haha.

Further predictions:
-Title will go down to the wire yet again and this time Utd pip it. Not as close as last season though
-Kagawa is going to light the league on fire. Signing of the season and impeccable link-up with Rooney
-Race for 3rd and 4th tight all season but Arsenal manage to comfortably get 3rd it in the end. FA cup win turns fortunes around at the Grove!
-Ancelotti is a CL master
, I genuinely think PSG they'll have a push for the CL. Hopefully I'm wrong
-Di Matteo's Chelsea start off strong but fall away. The loss of Drogba will be too much if they don't bring in someone else. Torres and Sturridge not good enough imo
-QPR to have a decent season tooLast edited by Nitey; 08-10-2012 at 18:59.

I remember last year when everyone predicted Liverpool finishing above Arsenal. (I admit I thought it would be closer too) People are underestimating us once again, with or without RVP hopefully we prove people wrong.

It'll depend largely on how quickly the new signings, Podolski, Giroud and Carozla, can settle in, especially if RVP goes. I don't think it'll be a problem, maybe for Podolski who was pretty ineffective in his short spell at Bayern, but he was a younger player then.
I think Chelsea is the likelier candidate to miss out on top 4. Sure they've spent a lot of money, but it's a major squad overhaul, with a lot of egos that Di Matteo may not be able to handle, and there will be a TON of pressure on him from Uncle Roman to get them back to a better league standing. Plus, they really bought a bunch of kids. No clue of they'll physically be able to adapt to the Premier League.
FF, those doubts last season weren't unsubstantiated though. Arsenal ended up having a piss poor start to the season, and were really rescued by RVP having an absolute monster year.Last edited by Shibby; 08-10-2012 at 21:33.

It was RVP scoring but Walcott/Song provided a majority of the vital assists, also we always lost without Sagna/Arteta. It wasn't just him but yes he was unbelievable just like the season before so it wasn't surprising I said he'd be the player of the season.
Too late to wish City will flop since they are ridiculously strong but I hope Chelsea do.

Sure you have a lot of people creating chances, but without someone to put them in the net it's worthless. Look at Liverpool last season. Fuck ton of chances created, but fuck all when it came to converting them.
The big question was whether he could stay healthy, there was no doubting his quality.
-
08-11-2012 #17
True that about his quality. People have been labelling him a one season man, but his record has been good throughout his career. Now, if one season man means fit for one season only, then yeah, I agree

Regarding Chelsea: Di Matteo has always been an attack minded manager, he likes sexy football etc but he wasn't able to extract that from Chelsea during his months in charge last season due to personel and I guess the safer option was to bring back the 'old guard' and play defensive football (against decent opponents). He's clearly bringing in ball players and wants to play posession and pacey football. Fact is they won the CL last year because of their rock solid defence plus Drogba. I think their defence will be sound once again but I won't be surprised to see them being ineffective up front especially if Oscar can't settle and Torres/Sturridge doesn't look strong at all to me. I think Hazard and Marin will settle in well
Really buzzin' for the start of the new season! Only a week to go
