Haha No, that's not what I meant. I'm talking about the continuation of current gen consoles along side next gen. As I mentioned earlier, I think Sony is positioning PS3 to be the lower price point console alternative to PS4 that PS2 was to PS3. Sony have a shit ton of development resources in their WWS, enough to support generation 7 and 8 at the same time. How much did the PS2 sell during this gen? All I'm stating is my speculative belief that MS probably doesn't intend to maintain the 360 to a capacity that would make it competitive with the PS3 and Wii U once nextbox and PS4 come out. I could be 300% wrong, only time will tell.

Oh ok. Yeah I'm curious as to what the 360 will become first party wise once the next Xbox launches. My guess is MS will move their heavy hitters to the next box and 360 will get more XBLA and Kinect titles. That way MS can devote their next gen software towards the core gamer and use the 360 to go after the more casual crowd. Just a theory.

MS had no choice last gen with Nvidia gouging them on licensing fees. The first Xbox was never going to make money. Unlike the 360.

The PS2 got a title this year lol MLB 12 IIRC. I think I read that it will be the last ever title released. PS2 has as much shelf space as PS3 and 360 here in Austria, it's pretty crazy haha. I think the PS3 will have WAY stronger legs than PS2. I think the kinds of people who bought the PS2 even in the last few years are going to be more than happy to update to an HD console which has achieved the kind of games it has now. Well, it'll be interesting to see how it all pans out.

I think what Ghost means is Sony will maintain support for PS3 and the Wii U will technically support it too well into the PS4's life just like PS2

Yeah. Well like I said before MS had to drop the Xbox with Nvidia gouging them on licensing fees. Xbox was never going to make money. And even if MS drops the 360 shortly after the new box they still stuck with it for 7 or 8 years. People want to play with their friends, and the xbox is very good at that.

Plus when you have a multiplat game like COD released every year consistently breaking its own sales records, it really diminished the importance of exclusives.

Well, by the time the Xbox 3 is out (if next fall), the 360 will be about about 80 million consoles sold. Microsoft (and third party) will ALL want a piece of that pie. Sell 500,000 games to a couple million Xbox 3 owners, or sell millions to 80 million existing users...or offer both. My money is that they will support both. It's like free money for them. It was a raging success with Sony, so that explains why MS is so adamant about their 10 plus year lifecycle.

The games came out for a year after the Xbox was discontinued. But you can't go by history of a single console. If you went by history, the Xbox 360 would have been discontinued at 24 million units and after 4 years, lol!!! Now it starts the 8th year of production and has about 70 million consoles lol!! Can't go by history on that lol.
