Life in the UK?

So I am contemplating going back home to the UK after I marry my fiancee. I haven't lived there since I was 7 or so. What's it like these days? Is it expensive? Average wage? What are some of the best cities to live in (safety etc)? Which have good public transport etc. I'd be grateful for any input! Thanks.

North Yorkshire is one of the more affluent areas in the UK so wages and prices are set accordingly.

Wales is just EPIC!

Depends what you want and need really. Average house price accross the UK is about 150k but that's including the one bed flats in north Scotland. If you wanted to live in and around London you are going to need at least 300k for a house.

Getting a job might be hard, they are there but very competitive. I'd try and make sure either you or you wife has a job before you move back over.

Thank you! Well, I was born in Yorkshire, about 20 minutes drive from Leeds. My sister is there at the moment with her family in our home town...Our one horse home town lol. Most exciting thing there is the saturday market in the town square lol.

If you appreciate historic surroundings, York is a very nice city. Due to its location it also has a main train line to London, Leeds, Manchester, and up to Scotland.

To be honest I'm not really fussed about what I'll do when I get there, I just want us to have work and an apartment. I wouldn't mind resuming my security career abit while I'm there though. I've had experience in a few different sectors of the industry and wouldn't mind expanding...Well, it'd only be for 3-4 years until my fiancee gets british citizenship, then we will come back to Vienna (city is so fucking badass in every way ).

Being able to teach english in Austria is like panning for gold. So many people will pay you decent money in hand for your native tounge and english training. I will miss having these opportunities.
