With Tales of Xillia 2 coming Sony has nothing to worry about with PS3, they need to focus on Vita first and foremost in Japan.

Absolutely....by now they are making profit on PSP, PS2, and PS3 also the PS2 is still a DVD at the very least most likely a cheap one at this time

You can get standalone DVD players for like $20, most people that are buying them now are probably seeing all the cheap used PS2 games on the shelves, which is the only mistake Sony is making with it IMO, they should reprint some PS2 games at really low budget prices and make even more off it.

That is true also the PS2 is backwards compatible with PS1 games as well so that's another selling point
