It's from 2009 so they had intentions of merging those two studios a while back.Originally Posted by Joystiq

I've said for some time the dev team was being destroyed yes.
Dont kid youself all that other stuff, was created by sony, and just happens to be at Liverpool, the actual dev team is gone.
The merger with Evolution never happend by the way, the closest they came to it was Mick Hocking from Evo taking over and running Big big Evo and Liverpool.
I mean Big big got closed, this was next on the chopping block, its been a long time coming.
Not sure how you get the team will be absorbed out of
This is the same PR speel everyone says.will try to relocate those affected to other studios. "We will be looking to relocate the team members throughout the studios, but unfortunately some redundancies will be necessary and in those cases we will assist staff in any way we can."
In reality, they no longer have jobs, they might be offered new ones, maybe.

Not following, are you suggesting that just because they made a game for the vita that in someway means they haven't been being slowly bleed for the past 5 years?
When I refer to all that other stuff, I mean all that WWSCE stuff left at Liverpool.
That's basically SCE admin, and nothing to do with game development, no where are they "keeping the label".

Its not realistic to think Sony could sustain all these studios heading into next gen. I saw this coming after last year's closures. It sucks but it may save them a lot of money.

Oh I see, confusion!.
What I meant by the "other stuff", is all the SCE stuff (SCEWW admin), the original Liverpool dev team has been given the axe (just now, not some time ago).
I was trying to clarify to you that the name wont "live on", its gone. They wont "keep the label" because there isn't anything to keep.
All the other stuff they talk about still being there, is to do with administration and publishing for SCEWW.
Its not to do with making a game.
