GTA 5 Promotion Suggests 'Game Close To Finished', Release Date Next - Analyst

Is Rockstar gearing up for a GTA 5 release date announcement with the release of new game assets? Could be, thinks Michael Pachter.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is in the middle of its most significant promotional push to date, with six new screens launched this week alone, and three more to come.

Rockstar had remained relatively quiet since announcing the game with a trailer back in November last year.

So does all this activity mean we'll get some solid information on GTA 5's gameplay and release date soon?

"I've been consistently wrong in attributing rational behavior to the
Rockstar folks," Wedbush Securities Michael Pachter told NowGamer.

"The uptick in promotion suggests that the game is close to being finished and that they are ready to announce a release date, but they haven't always behaved rationally in the past- remember the trailer released on November 1, 2011? - so I don't want to ascribe rational behavior this time around."

Pachter confirmed that Rockstar is "building up to a release date announcement" in his opnion, and that a release date that falls "pre-Christmas is possible."

Given Rockstar's unpredictable nature though, the analyst added that he's "repared to be wrong once again" when it comes to his latest GTA 5 prediction.

Take-Two's financial forecasts suggests that the publisher needs to launch GTA 5 by April 2013.

I believe not.. its to much to early and we only have just tiny info and images, plus fake stuff. So real info and official rockstar conformation is all we need to make us happy

It would be stupid this early. I believe the game needs a round 7 months for it to be complete, so march will be the right time.

Sounds reasonable, gives them time to market it too. Which will no doubt be very aggressive

You can never predict what Rockstar will do. They usually come out with a release date completely out of the blue. they could announce it is releasing next week.

Also you have to remember that they NEVER release any gameplay footage before the game comes out.

On topic: its the most logical thing to do, never rush and think here ypu go and enjoy. Be aggressive and market aggressively. That way ypu get what you want and rockstar sits back and reaps in the rewards

It's crazy how when you look back and they released GTA III in 2001 and just 1 year later we had Vice City, 6 years into this gen we don't even have 2 GTA games yet.

So true mate. The limited technology and small disc space. Means quicker release numbers and they were cheaper. Now with bigger disc's and more powerful technology, means longer waits and more stuff can be put into the game

Rockstar also has more franchises that as successful as well than they did back in 2001. That would also push back the releases of their most popular franchise

Could also be that they only focused on one platform, then let another studio port the game while they worked on the next one, this gen they're doing all 3 platforms at once (possibly 4 if GTAV releases on Wii U).

Either way. Cast, technology, platfroms, production time, story script, marketing. Its all about the money and can they get a healthy return

Them rushing the game makes no sense. Plus the company always knowns the right time to release games. Which quarter to release the game on, this is so they get a financial spike in sales and for known that releasing closer to the summer or christmas time. They can get maximum sales and the share holders are happy and rockstar again understands that time is key always

I think the GTA series fans def are patient when it comes to these games and wouldn't want them rushed I firmly believe rockstar knows this
