Ever hear of Gregory Bauge the French sprint cyclist? He never tested positive for doping either, he just didn't supply a sample for testing and the UCI took his medals and first places away from him throughout 2011.
It is very different circumstances to actually taking a test and not testing positive but it shows how strict these governing bodies can be.

Armstrong has taken plenty of test and always tested negative this is just upsetting as a sports fan as well as someone that has friends that have beaten cancer see this man's rep tarnished.

Actually, he did test positive for EPO back in 1999. I don't know what happened to get it thrown out. He was basically fighting a losing battle and that is probably the reason he just decided not to fight anymore. I say let the guy keep his accomplishments. IMO its fair because they were all pobably doping.

It seems like most people in here are recycling only half the story.

I never believed Lance was totally clean. Especially back when testing wasn't as accurate as it is today. My main thing is that why take away what he has earned because I believe they were all doping to a certain extent. One thing that I have learned about these sorts of things is that they always deny it initially. Unfortunately, for Lance it does make him look guilty when his trainer and teammates have already admitted to it.

Lance Armstrong finally admits doping
Read the restLance Armstrong has ended years of denials by admitting he used performance-enhancing drugs during all seven of his Tour de France wins.
The 41-year-old confessed during his interview with chat show host Oprah Winfrey in front of a worldwide television audience.
"I view this situation as one big lie I repeated a lot of times," he said. "I made those decisions, they were my mistake and I'm here to say sorry."
However the American denied it was "sport's biggest doping programme", saying "it was smart, but it was conservative, risk averse".
The interview with Winfrey, 58, was broadcast on prime time television on her OWN network in America, and was streamed worldwide through her website.
The tens of millions watching saw Armstrong reveal:
he took performance-enhancing drugs in each of his Tour wins from 1999-2005
doping was "part of the process required to win the Tour"
he did not feel he was cheating at the time and viewed it as a "level playing field"
he did not fear getting caught
"all the fault and blame" should lie with him
he was a bully who "turned on" people he did not like
his cancer fight in the mid-1990s gave him a "win-at-all costs" attitude
he would now co-operate with official inquiries into doping in cycling
In response the US Anti-Doping Agency (Usada) called for Armstrong to detail "under oath" the full extent of his doping.
Cycling's governing body the UCI welcomed Armstrong's decision "to come clean and confess", and said the interview had confirmed it was not part of a "collusion or conspiracy".
Last year Armstrong was stripped of his Tour de France titles after being labelled a "serial cheat" by Usada.

This guy is a damn joke. I can not believe he did this for so long and lied about for all these years. What about all those that came in 2nd place? They should be the real winners....

The first thing which comes to your mind when a famous sports guys doesnt come to the doping test is that he might be on doping. Well thats the case...

I heard he sued a number of people for things like 'defamation of character' when they said that Armstrong was doping. If he won those cases, I hope the defendants sue, and get twice as much in return.
Liars are disgusting. This broheim deserves to sink and lose it all.

This thread is so funny in retrospect. So much vitriol towards the stripping of the medals and so defiant in defense of Lance Armstrong who turned out to be doing it.
I was listening to a lawyer on the radio the other day talking about this story. He's free from criminal charges (statute of limitations) but he's wide open for civil liabilities. All those people he defamed can and will most likely sue his pants off along with a few corporate sponsors who have the right to get their money back including the US Post Office. He's at risk of losing almost everything he has. And good.

What a piece of fucking shit. I have lost all respect for lance armstrong.
I feel bad for all the cancer survivors that looked to this pile of donkey shit for inspiration to have him go on oprah and say NO its not possible with PED's.
Fuck this guy! All the Second place winners should be awarded the titles

he did wrong big freaking deal, he is not the first and won't be the last and others have done far worse than what he has did and i am not defending him in anyway..
But someone in cycling will come along and out do him in drugs terms and cheat the game and the system
He is an asswhole for what he did... But not a massive deal
Thanks to Spyrde/Sylar

I'm going to ruffle a few feathers with this but 'who cares'? In all seriousness just let them take whatever they want. Let them all have a level playing field that way there is none of this 'he only did it cause he was on a PED' crap. What's the difference between a guy taking steroids against someone without steroids and a guy on creatine against a guy without creatine? Both have an advantage over the other. Just let them take what they want.
After watching the documentary 'Bigger, Stronger, Faster' I basically don't care what people take in sports because in the end we are all hypocrites who cheer for the long ball, the shutout, the impossible becoming possible. We as a society have more pressing concerns to deal with than worrying about athletes using substances to get better at their chosen profession.

Alot of the 2nd place and 3rd place winners were already found guilty of doping.
According to this chart 2003 only 3 of the top 10 were not doping

Source
They enhance performance they do nto create it, the athelete has to be already good but it gives them an edge they can go harder for longer (sounds like Viagra) they will not make a 300lb obese unhealthy person win anything.
Also these should be allowed too and not be bannable

Lance's admission shouldn't really be that surprising. The saddest part of it all was the denial and bullying he did in the process. I always thought he was using. There was too much evidence against him.
