So much variety with this game. It lets you play how you want with any controls, is very customizable and their ambition for cross-play with PS3 and next gen Playstation is amazing.

The scope of the game is phenomenal. so long as enough people get behind it, DUST will be in development and growth for years to come and is only going to increase in scope.

You can try registering on the official site for a beta key if you're still keen. I know that the current beta phase goes until Sept. 4. I'm not sure what happens then, if it goes fully open or not.

I think it's free as in no monthly fee, but you still need to purchase the game. Am I right?

Yeah it's pretty awesome huh? Full control over your sounds and input method ftw.
Originally there was going to be a $20 fee that would get you $20 worth of AUR, the PSN bought currency. However, CCP later decided to scrap that.
The box art was created just for the sake of it. There is no planned retail release and the game is still 100% free. I just added it cause I love the image.

The guys on the PSU podcast said they were keen to do it and I'm VERY keen to do it so if it is still their intention then we will be doing it yeah. PlayStation Universe Corporation ftw!
In the next build of the game, player corporation formation will be possible, so watch this space!

I tried, but I just can't get into this game, it's too basic for an FPS.
The weapon just aren't fun to use, they all look and play the same, if their was an option to customize them (Choose/remove RDS sights, diff attachments Etc) it'll be a lot better.
I'm not saying the game needs to be like COD, it just needs to be "modernized" to the standard of current FPS games.
In it's current state I can't see a lot of people playing it, even if it is FTP.

I agree iv been playing it for a little and already notice the things it should have for more of an experience

It's too basic? Hehe. I thought quite the opposite. No other FPS game lets you customise your player to the degree Dust does. Most of these modern FPS games limit you into a certain role and you spend your time unlocking that class's gear. Dust lets you fully customise your soldier, and your vehicles.
Dust won'zt attract CoD players I don't think. It will be a niche game that gets a hardcore following of people who love it.
Well it is still in beta. Dust will only keep improving and growing up to and after release so these things that are missing (and I agree there is some stuff missing) will be added. Spme of the stuff they have pondered of adding completly blows away the tired ideas put forth by most of todays bland military FPS games.

I'm usually not a mp fps guy but after geeking out on all the info I could find, I think Dust is easily the most innovative military fps around. Not from a game play point of view but because of the economy behind it, also the fact that ccp have essentially done what hasn't been done before, blending 2 platforms into one universe. Also the customisation options are insane and the game will only get bigger and better. A true war simulator that is free and will receive ongoing free expansions is super exciting for me.

I will have more time with the game this weekend. Thanks to Ghost, I was able to play the other night. Though, I only played two games online. As Ghost mentions, customization is second to none. But that is based on me seeing the endless options, not actually trying them, due to lack of personal time.
Tutorial is aces. CGI/Cutscenes, aces. Actual game play, based on TWO games is fun, because I can actually HIT people when firing
Granted, I came in third or 4th place (and ahead of EVERY member on the enemy team) because of vehicle assist points, lol. I spawned into a game in front of a warthog (tee hee), and I jumped in the passenger seat. There as a driver and someone on the turret. I just rode with them the entire game as they drove over people and shot others from the turret. I just kept building up 35 points each time, and ended up with 500+ points just from sitting in the passenger seat, sight seeing
The game does appear that it will be fun indeed, but there is so much to learn, it's not even funny. But that is good.
CGI/Cutscenes look great. Actual game play, looks like old school PS2 days. But that doesn't bother me in the least. It's the fun, the controls and the depth that matters to me. Hell, it's even priced right!

Hey, Ghost. i've decided to take an interest in Dust 514.
(apparently its really good
)
i was chatting to some mates of mine who are in, however i didn't get a chance to ask them; i HATE the Unreal Engine. it is the engine of satan as far as im concerned. however, in spite of that, does it perform well on the PS3?
secondly, Beta is open to PS+ member right?
