So much variety with this game. It lets you play how you want with any controls, is very customizable and their ambition for cross-play with PS3 and next gen Playstation is amazing.
The scope of the game is phenomenal. so long as enough people get behind it, DUST will be in development and growth for years to come and is only going to increase in scope.
I got an email saying I was in the Beta awhile back... somehow my entire email got deleted, every single bit of it goneif I am in the PS3 or 360 section I will NOT post about the competitor just to please people, if you want to know what I think about the competitor link me to a thread in the appropriate section
You can try registering on the official site for a beta key if you're still keen. I know that the current beta phase goes until Sept. 4. I'm not sure what happens then, if it goes fully open or not.
Here's a nice presentation from this years Siggraph on Dust 514 GI implementation.
Thank you mr Jippone. I am very much interested int he graphical ambitions for Dust.
A lot of new beta codes floating around. Please feel free to ask any questions here, I'll do my best to answer and help. Also, be sure to check out PSUs latest article on DUST 514 to find out exactly what it is you are playing and how it fits into the big picture of EVE Online.

I think it's free as in no monthly fee, but you still need to purchase the game. Am I right?
The box art was created just for the sake of it. There is no planned retail release and the game is still 100% free. I just added it cause I love the image.
I remember way back it was talked about making a merc group with PSU players. Is that still happening? I am in the beta now.
Focus. Control. Conviction. Resolve. A true ace lacks none of these attributes. Nothing can deter you from the task at hand except your own fears. This is your sky.
So if people are down, I'm down.
I intend to make two divisions in the PSU merc corps; one for casual players and one for those who want to take it to the next level and be part of the merc corp hired by EVE players to take and protect land.
The guys on the PSU podcast said they were keen to do it and I'm VERY keen to do it so if it is still their intention then we will be doing it yeah. PlayStation Universe Corporation ftw!
In the next build of the game, player corporation formation will be possible, so watch this space!
is dust free? or hafta pay?

I tried, but I just can't get into this game, it's too basic for an FPS.
The weapon just aren't fun to use, they all look and play the same, if their was an option to customize them (Choose/remove RDS sights, diff attachments Etc) it'll be a lot better.
I'm not saying the game needs to be like COD, it just needs to be "modernized" to the standard of current FPS games.
In it's current state I can't see a lot of people playing it, even if it is FTP.
I agree iv been playing it for a little and already notice the things it should have for more of an experience

Dust won'zt attract CoD players I don't think. It will be a niche game that gets a hardcore following of people who love it.

I'm def excited for this game I'm not a big FPS guy but I find this game interesting
I'm usually not a mp fps guy but after geeking out on all the info I could find, I think Dust is easily the most innovative military fps around. Not from a game play point of view but because of the economy behind it, also the fact that ccp have essentially done what hasn't been done before, blending 2 platforms into one universe. Also the customisation options are insane and the game will only get bigger and better. A true war simulator that is free and will receive ongoing free expansions is super exciting for me.

I will have more time with the game this weekend. Thanks to Ghost, I was able to play the other night. Though, I only played two games online. As Ghost mentions, customization is second to none. But that is based on me seeing the endless options, not actually trying them, due to lack of personal time.
Tutorial is aces. CGI/Cutscenes, aces. Actual game play, based on TWO games is fun, because I can actually HIT people when firing Granted, I came in third or 4th place (and ahead of EVERY member on the enemy team) because of vehicle assist points, lol. I spawned into a game in front of a warthog (tee hee), and I jumped in the passenger seat. There as a driver and someone on the turret. I just rode with them the entire game as they drove over people and shot others from the turret. I just kept building up 35 points each time, and ended up with 500+ points just from sitting in the passenger seat, sight seeing
The game does appear that it will be fun indeed, but there is so much to learn, it's not even funny. But that is good.
CGI/Cutscenes look great. Actual game play, looks like old school PS2 days. But that doesn't bother me in the least. It's the fun, the controls and the depth that matters to me. Hell, it's even priced right!
