Metal Gear's 25th anniversary event to 'shake the industry'

Next week’s Metal Gear 25th anniversary event at Tokyo Midtown will be full of “a lot of exciting announcements,” according to Kojima Productions Report podcaster Ken Mendoza, speaking on the latest recording of the podcast.

And these will be big. At least, according to Chris Johns, who works alongside Mendoza.

“A lot of things to look forward to next week,” said Johns, “not just for fans, but I think the industry’s gonna be shook by what we’re going to be able to present here.”

Here’s what we know about the event so far:

Hideo Kojima will make an announcement in relation to his idea of a game that connects people.

We’re going to see ‘what Fox Engine can do‘, which we’re guessing will come in the form of a new game. Perhaps the same as that above, perhaps not.

The event will occur on August 30.

Sounds like a Metal Gear Solid 5 unveiling to me.

That for sure will be awesome. Also, I hope they share their engine like Epic Games has. That would really help other Japanese developers out. More high quality games on a new high quality engine.

I fully expect MGS5 to come out on PS3. The Fox engine has been in development since MGS4 came out. It'd be a shame to only release one new MGS game on PS3.

Well I can only conclude hes talking about some sort of cross play multiplay across consoles.

And now that MGS-HD is on Xbox, I wouldn't be surprised if MGS4 ends up there as one of the announcements.
I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't either.

    Shake the industry?
I can't really see a industry shaking announcement being " MGS5 available on all platforms 2013"

Well I'm shaken alright. Shaken my head so far.

MGS Social Ops - coming for free.

    Loads of merchandise

What did they do to you?! A new action figure of The Boss:

    MGS MOVIE
Yup they are going to try and do a movie!! Avi Arad is set to produce it. He's done quite a few superhero movies such as the Spiderman movies including the latest one.

    Fox Engine:

They are showing it off NOW as one last thing. No pictures or videos allowed though apparently, hopefully something will leak out. I can't understand the decision not to live stream this event or at least this part, it's what people want to see.

Ooh. One pic has come out.

The shaking the industry was the fox engine
Thou in contents a multiplatform announcement, movie, and mobile games isn't ground shaking
But you'll have to see MGSGZ to decide if it shaked the industry

How would that shake the industry? A brand new, awesome engine, which will be used in the next gen, and which will be shared, letting other developers make their games with it, I'd say is industry shaking.
