EA is taking on Pokemon

The founder of EA games, Trip Hawkins, has just recently funded a new game firm, If You Can, a game developing company that is based in London, UK. The new company has employed Ben Geliher, the former lead producer at Mind Candy on Moshi Monsters and he has annouced that one of the first games the company is working on is a project which is a "Monster catching style of RPG" that apparently will rival Nintendo's Pokémon Series!.
Geliher has stated that "The game will be a top down RPG for kids, so very stylized in its look and feel. Think Pokémon, Animal Crossing or The Legend of Zelda for an idea of what would be expected."


What do you think of this? Will it work? Or are they swinging above their weight class but challenging the Pokémon franchise? Let us know in the comments below!

I'm slightly annoyed because Pokemon X is a cooler name than Pokemon Y, but Pokemon Y gets the cooler looking Legendary the big crazy bird thing...whereas X just gets a stupid deer !!

Keep the battles like pokemon colosseum, animated attacks like the upcoming x and y, and just give me a good story. Also, online battles and trading pokemon. I'm sold with that.

It takes away the whole meaning of poke'mon. (pocket monsters.) I do agree that this would be a great game either way though.

Vileplume and either a Raticate or Ratata if you have the later, evolve that thing.

Pokemon X and Y: Get technical with stats and screens of the starter Pokemon

Last Tuesday Nintendo announced the first ‘Pokemon’ game designed for the Nintendo 3DS handheld named ‘Pokemon X’ and ‘Pokemon ‘Y’. Now Nintendo has released new stats and details on the starter Pokemon for the game.

In the game ‘Pokemon X’ and ‘Pokemon Y’ players will start with three Pokémon (Chespin, Fennekin, and Froakie), the Legendary Pokémon are (Xerneas and Yveltal). This is the first time official artwork has been provided for the starter Pokémon.

Nintendo also released a very helpful infographic, which shows each of the three starter Pokemon in relationship to each other. The three starter Pokémon are a : Grass-type Pokémon Chespin, Fire-type Pokémon Fennekin, and Water-type Pokémon Froakie. Nintendo states in a press-release, “As shown in the diagram, each Pokémon has comparative strengths and weaknesses — for example, Fennekin (as a Fire-type) is strong against the Grass-type Chespin but would struggle against the Water-type Froakie. Chespin (as a Grass-type) could stand up to the Water-type Froakie, but not the Fire-type Fennekin, etc. Please visit the announcement trailer to see these Pokémon in action again”.

Here are the heights and weights for Legendary Pokémon Xerneas and Yveltal. They are as follows:
