I'm sure soon enough the capabilities of the handhelds will reach console level..either that or the 3DS will be Nintendo's final handheld and Pokemon will switch to console anyway.

Exactly. There will always be spin off and side stories on consoles but the core pokemon RPGs will stay on handhelds. That's just the whole idea of them. They are Pocket monsters after all

Doesn't really kill your interest if you had none to begin with.

Still, I think it'd benefit Nintendo if Game Freak were to develop a fully-realized 3D Pokémon title for the Wii U. Maybe later in its lifecycle.

Quite surprised by this, I was expecting a remake of a previous game or maybe just some news on the cartoon. But the announcement of the next gen games, and moving away from the standard top down view and going into 3D no less! That's huge. These will surely sell like hot cakes.

Gotta say though, I'm not impressed with the new starters. The fire one looks okay, but the grass and water ones look crap. New Legendarys look awesome.

Pokemon X and Y will feature more complex types of Pokemon. That's the word from Ishihara Tsunekazu, the President of the Pokemon Company.

So far, we have seen five new Pokemon from Pokemon X and Y, including the Starters, and two other Pokemon who look like they could be Legendary. Yet beyond the traditional Water, Fire and Grass Types, it seems there will be more complex types.

Speaking with 4Gamer, Ishihara Tsunekazu said that you can expect a rich ecosystem and more complex types of Pokemon as the number of Pokemon in existence pushes over 700.

Whether there will be 700 Pokemon to catch in Pokemon X And Y is a different

matter. After all,Pokemon Black And White only featured new Pokemon until you completed the story.The Pokemon X And Y release date is set for October.
