Doesn't the PSP have a custom screen size for PS1 games? I'm sure I remember that feature, if true why hasn't it been added to the Vita's PS1 emulator??!

    Maybe in a future update.

Press and hold the screen, then choose "Other Settings". You'll see the screen size option.

    I guess I wasn't clear, my bad.

I meant a manually adjustable screen size rather than the 4 different settings offered.

Yeah that was definitely a feature on the PSP when playing PS1 games. Would be nice to have it on Vita seeing as we got so much more screen space to play with

Ahh, yeah, definitely isn't that option. I doubt there will be.

If you use zoom you only get little black borders on the side. This was with the psp.

    It certainly would be nice.
Personally I wouldn't mind a FXAA. (done before any scaling.)

It's weird anyway, apparently the VITA uses a somewhat adapted version of the PSPs PSOne emulator (see info screen if you start a classic game). Emu-ception I guess.
It looks like the emulator uses the original PSone resolution though, the models in FF8 don't appear to be scaled to a higher resolution.

The problem with zoom mode is that it uses a horizontal fit, there needs to be another zoom for a vertical fit so that you get the whole picture on screen.

Yeah that was also a problem with the PSP however I've never tried any of my NTSC titles on it, it might just be the PAL borders. Anyone with a PSP and an NTSC PS1 Classic confirm if the borders are there?

I had the wrong impression on what it was going to look like and how it'd feel. I am a little disappointed.

There are small borders which are not PAL borders. PAL borders exist because of the difference in vertical resolution, 480px vs. 560px. The border which are apparent in all PSone games exist because the developers wanted to compensate for the TV overscan.

So when you play a PAL game ala FFVII, does it show in fullscreen or do you have to force it?

Tried one of my US PS1 Classics on PSP and the borders are also there, sucks. Looks like custom is the way to go then.

I did try this... It worked on my other games, just not FF5. ( for me at least ) Thanks for the suggestion though.
