So when Catalina and claude left San Andreas for a 9 year trip to liberty city, so within that 9year cap

Several games came be made, like the GTA: C&C STORIES

I know the title seems a bit lame, but a few games on them two traveling all over and doing crimes and then ending up in liberty city

Would make sense and see have far their relationship really went

So far from what I have seen of SA on PS3 looks horrible, in terms of graphics. I thought I might buy it as I have never completed it but the graphics are awful.

The San Andreas on the PS3 is the original version....Yes the frame rate is suffering, but it did on the PS2

Actually the frame rate/loading is better than on PS2, but the graphics have aged terribly unless you're on PC with max settings/full AA.

Actually the sound is out of sync in some of the cut scenes in SA, and I don't remember having that problem on the PS2. It's painful to watch out-of-sync cutscenes, seriously. Also, wtf is gamebryo?

I know how you feel mate, some games that have been released on the psn and Xbox market are out of sync during cut scenes

But you would think rockstar as talent as they are, would rework the sync problem

Maybe they are having the same problem with vice city at the moment

Seems like SA for PS3 indeed sucks big time. Good thing I got my Mafia 2 DLC.

I wouldn't say bigtime, it's just the sound, that's all I'm noticing. Otherwise, everything else looks and plays the same, as if I had the physical disc.

True... But the sound is so needed lol

The same can be Said for the 360 market version, it suffers from sound lost and sync drops

What version did you get? I got the NTSC download from PSN and have had no issues at all including sound. It's definitely running better off PS3 than PS2, I've had no popins, on PS2 it happens all the time.

I double-checked GTAGarage but I don't believe there's an Xbox conversion mod for Vice City? At least nothing like the single download for GTA III.

I mean, certain textures already look better in HD (e.g. one picture hanging on the wall in the opening cutscene) so it's not a huge loss.

See I got a list of search results on just GTA 3 only... I am totally surprised by that

Considering vice city is the most popular out of the GTA 3 era

I am going to update the OP with some more stuff, including these high-res maps recently posted by Rockstar Newswire:

I've also added the following under Locations (GTA III era):

    Liberty City, Liberty State
    Carcer City, Liberty State
    Vice City, Florida
    Cottonmouth, (unknown, possibly Louisiana)
    Los Santos, San Andreas
    San Fierro, San Andreas
    Las Venturas, San Andreas
    Bullworth, New Hampshire

Supposedly, Cottonmouth (Manhunt 2) is located nearby San Andreas. Rockstar hasn't commented on it so it remains unknown. =/

EDIT: Wikihunt mentions New Orleans so possibly Louisiana.

In my opinion Rockstar should have released all GTA 3 era games in full hd and running at 60 fps. It wouldnt be hard as the PS3 could run such a game on a high resolution and at 60 fps with no problems, just additional developing and optimization time would be required.

They might do something like that after the release of GTA v and then get say rockstar Leeds to do it

I'm not sure what you mean by Carcer City being left out. The city is mentioned a lot more than Cottonmouth and Bullworth. I think the idea for Rockstar was to simply tie the Manhunt, Bully and GTA (III era) games into one universe.

Also, like I said, Wikihunt mentions New Orleans, Louisiana so that would put Cottonmouth closer to Vice City than San Andreas.

One thing I don't like about the GTA series' continuity though is that Lazlow's character (apart from being more annoying than funny in GTA IV) throws a monkey wrench into it by hinting at what he did on the radio in the GTA III era games, even though GTA IV is part of a different era.

I would like to eventually see Rockstar explore Carson City in a new GTA era but this time coupled with Liberty City, making it Liberty State.

I know how to solve the problem about GTA Vice City and the Miami vice theme not fitting into the modern-current era. They could make GTA VI in the old Vice City which would be a follow up of Tommy Vercettis story with the same good old classy miami vice theme. The story could tell what happened to Tommy afterwards and how the things went. Of course the graphics and new features would be added as always in a follow up game.
