I doubt they carefully and in details planned a mind set which would properly proceed with all the other games as the way it came out there is no such impression.

I did so and played through every game and still got the impression that all games after gta 3 were made to fit into it and due that dependence everything came out odd. The whole series could have been executed much better.

Would you mind explaining what you found lame about GTA III's ending and how you think they could have better executed the series?

Well first of all it would have been better if the series would have more related content between each other and they all would attain their own individual style while still relating to the series. All the games wouldnt have to fit into one gtas story and its ending due to them basing on themselves. What I didnt like about the ending was the following, so in the last missions Claud has to kill Catalina, afterwards as he kills her on the helicopter is where my first issues persists. So a character like Catalina who is the main antagonists gets killed in the helicopter, what? Such deaths are the ones which are the most lame ones. Same like imagine if in an action movie the main bad guys gets just killed in his car by an explosive or in a helicopter by a rocket launcher instead of the more traditional final fight between the two. So after that claud just walks away from the scene with his annoying girlfriend, kills her and thats it. This is just freaking lame. No insight of what could be probably happened next and absolutely no other hints. In my opinion just a bad way not only to end a game but to end a whole series like that.

GTA III and its prequels all have their own stories set many years and miles apart. They don't fit into one another unless you highlight certain recurring characters but this is to give the illusion that you're playing in a larger world.

It wouldn't be like Catalina to meet Claude for one last battle. She continuously uses people to get her way. I would also argue that using a rocket launcher to shoot down a helicopter is more memorable as a climax to a final mission where you already shoot dozens of cartel members.

So after that claud just walks away from the scene with his annoying girlfriend, kills her and thats it. This is just freaking lame. No insight of what could be probably happened next and absolutely no other hints. In my opinion just a bad way not only to end a game but to end a whole series like that.
We don't know if Claude actually used his gun to kill Maria or to shut her up.

I'm 99% sure he shot Maria at the end of III, a gunshot alone wouldn't shut her up lol

Yeah, think you would have heard her shouting and screaming about it if she lived.

I like the way it ended, Claude did exactly what i felt like doing and it rags on the ' save the princess ' ending cliche.

This makes this a moment were we need to know or do we want to actually know... So it opens up the possibility for a true sequel or at least something

like an Easter egg in GTA V or future GTA game, so it explains everything

Nothing they've added to the HD era continues the story of the GTA III era.

I'm actually not a big fan of the top-down GTA games so they're pretty short one-offs for me. But I still like to keep it as part of my collection.

I think it's just more so for nostalgic purposes on my part. It was one of those games I never really played properly, per say; messing around was the order a business, but that's probably indicative of my age at the time. As you say, it is nice to have in the collection. God knows it's gettin' bloody huge by this stage!

Rockstar actually brought back the Z-Type from GTA 2 in GTA V. It's very expensive though. I always think about that car when the top-down GTA games are brought up.

It would be pretty sweet if someone modded the taser gun to be more like the ElectroGun that would target multiple NPCs. If I remember correctly, it blew up cars too.
