Besides I reckon for XV they'll end up going in the direction of the tech demo they showed..even though it was a tech demo I thought the concept was pretty unique and fresh. It was like a mix of modern middle east with a mix of the classic Final Fantasy elements.

Video was taken down. I'll replace it with this one. Better thumbnail too.

Seriously i'm disappointed.
I hope vsXIII won't be generic and flat like this.

Meh, not as excited about the game after watching the trailer. I hope it ends up good, though.
That said, I do like how you control Lightning only.Last edited by Bio; 12-21-2012 at 04:51.

That trailer didn't really do it for me, but it's only a short trailer. Can't expect too much from it, but it doesn't strike me as a game I want to own.

The battle-system and world design definitely seem interesting. But again, it's the story that worries me. I doubt it'll be any better than the first two games.
I'll end up playing it anyway though.

Extended Jump festa trailer
Several hundred years have passed since she fell into a deep slumber. The world, diseased by Chaos, is on the bring of destruction. The people, hopeless and full of despair, stand by hopelessly and watch the horror unfold in front of their eyes. As the end draws near, she awakens. She is Lightning, humanity’s last hope.
Only 13 days remain until the end of the world.
As the chosen one, Lightning battles her way through the final 13 days in an attempt to save humanity and accomplish her ultimate goal.
With a brand-new battle system, the player will be controlling Lightning and Lightning alone. The Paradigm Shift feature has been replaced with a unique tactical system that will provide a fresh, interactive battle experience.
Lightning can jump, climb, swing and slide. Players can enjoy a variety of different actions by interacting with obstacles and objects. Explore every inch of the world using buildings, decorations, and furniture at your disposal.
Lightning Returns sees the return of composers Masashi Hamauzu, Naoshi Mizuta and Mitsuto Suzuki, who have all worked on the soundtrack for the previous title, FFXIII-2. Hamauzu’s track used in the trailer, “Crimson Blitz,” will be available for download on the iTunes Store on December 23 for $0.99.

Not much new to the new trailer posted.
I still have high hopes for this game. Absolute customization, time management items (they probably slow down time or something), etc. The whole religious side is interesting, too (reminds me of FFX's religious angle though there seems to be less of the mysticism), which may force them to weave a more dramatic story that works better for them.

Square said the FFXIII Project has now shipped 9.7m copies. It was 9.6m in August.
I was pretty hyped when the details came out of this game, when we heard about all the ideas and the design etc. But then I saw the trailer and I'm really not feeling it. FXIII-2 was a commercial flop, but FFXIII was so damn expensive to make they have to get their money back somehow and we're here with another game revolving around Lightning.
Meanwhile, we're still waiting for a western Type-0 release, SE will not talk about a Bravely Default: Flying Fairy (incredible 3DS JRPG) localisation, infact, when questioned about it their PR teams denies it's existence. And Versus was announced 6 years ago. That says it all about SE these days, they are fooking inept and leave us to...

One interesting note, Noel's arm is seen.
Best character from XIII-2 other than grown up Hope.

Is this the first Japanese game you have seen?
Japanese developers do this to female characters way too often i guess they want them to be sexy but unique so they come of with the weirdest shit no one in real life would wear unless you factor in cosplay. Its obviously not practical for battle but fantasy is in the title of the game so anything goes i guess. Oh and i was way too distracted that she has capes for her legs to notice she only has panties on.Last edited by HellsJester; 12-23-2012 at 06:40.

Lightning Returns uses “Amazing ATB” battle system
New details unearthed from this week's Famitsu.
December 25, 2012 / 09:37 AM EST / Sal Romano (@salromano)

Famitsu this week has new details on Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII.
Here’s the bullet summary:
- Lightning’s new costume is designed by Tetsuya Nomura.
- You’ll be able to change Lightning’s costume and costume color during the game.
- Time is always flowing, except for when your menu is open on the field.
- Every NPC’s whereabouts and actions will constantly change.
- Certain information can only be obtained at specific times.
- Lightning is the only playable character.
- Lightning uses “Styles” in battle. Each Style consists of a certain weapon, shield, accessories, and abilities.
- You can customize Lightning’s appearance and ability considerably.
- By defeating monsters, Lightning can earn points to increase her available time, and items to strengthen her equipment.
- The battle system name has not yet been determined. Right now, they’re calling it the “Amazing ATB” battle system. Rest assured, it’s tentative.
- Though you’re only controlling one character, it feels as if you’re fighting with multiple, according to the mag.
- Monsters appear even in the city.
- Black haze will appear in specific areas at certain times. The new area will become monster territory.
- Half of the game’s monsters are new.
- The game’s conclusion can be experienced straight from the package. (No download content will need to be purchased, unlike Final Fantasy XIII-2.)
- Kitase guarantees you’ll be satisfied by the outcome of previous games’ characters’ stories.
We’ll be back later with more magazine leaks.
Thanks, Game Nyarth.

More info
Lightning Returns uses “open world” connection for travel
More new details from this week's Famitsu.
December 25, 2012 / 11:24 PM EST / Sal Romano (@salromano)

Following today’s earlier leak, more new details have come out regarding Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, including world travel information and estimated clear time. Find the bullet summary below.
- You can move around between continents by foot or faster by monorail. It’s the so called “open world” connection.
- Judging by the current outlook, the world is really vast and it’s rough on the operations.
- The first thing Square thought of was the map function, but now the numbers are regulated.
- Square looks forward to seeing how each continent is manufactured and connected.
- It seems there is still more to come.
- In this title, one day is 24 hours. In Final Fantasy XIII it was 26 hours, but when time stopped 2 hours were lost.
- What happens when the gate closes due to the time but you’re in a fight with a strong enemy, does it close after the battle? Does time pass during battle?
- If you’re doing your best, you can stretch the time limit past 13 days and increase time, but how you do it is a secret.
- The game’s test players cleared it in 2 to 4 days.
- Depending on how you do it, the deferment is quite different.
- The ending doesn’t differ too much depending on the time it takes you, but there are a lot of things in the playthrough you can’t experience within the time limit. Those variations are what players can look forward to.
- Battles are invoked when a corresponding button is pressed. Battles this way have you watch the ATB bar.
- There are a limited number of items you can carry.
- By setting abilities, the battles are more action based rather than command based.

That's true. I meant as a "throw it out there" thing y'know? X-2 is a good example. The XIII-2 outfit felt like it had a meaning. Since she's the warrior of the Goddess. When something like that comes in mind it seems normal. Especially Greek Mythology women back in the day.
