We may have to go another Tokyo Game Show without Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Shar, a member of the Square Enix Members fan club, says that he spoke with Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto about Versus at today's Final Fantasy Gallery event. Wrote Shar at Twitter, "I spoke about a number of things with Mr. Hashimoto today. It looks like Versus won't be at Tokyo Game Show. They're first putting all their effort info FFXIV and the Lightning Saga finale."

Shar later added, "He said that we're developing it, so please look forward to next year."


There's always the hope for a secret trailer, of course, but assuming Shar did actually get this from Hashimoto, don't expect to see a column for Versus XIII in Square Enix's official exhibition list.

Wow...come on Square....Honestly fuck you if this is true. Fuck you entirely. I've given up on this company. The ONE reasonable thing the entire fanbase wanted and you can't give us it? But you continue to shove the abomination that was FFXIII down our throats again for the 3rd time?...all I wanted was a new trailer maybe some gameplay with hope for a release date....But that seems to much to ask.

No...it was a molehill in 2006.....6 years later.....that molehill eventually evolved into a full blown Continent. They've asked us to show patience...and now FFXIII has a whole trilogy...and we're still struggling to get something solid from this game

Don't get worked up just yet guys, we don't know how accurate this Shar really is since he isn't even from Square-Enix(Just a member). It's more of a "This game won't be at Tokyo Game Show because he said so!". I'm crossing my fingers that he's wrong but there is still room for doubt.

I've also pointed this out in my initial post but thank you for reiterating.

I'm just saying, people shouldn't act like the game was cancelled. This isn't like The Last Guardian where we haven't seen a trailer since 2010 and three of the most important people on the project left the development studio. Telling Square Enix to fuck off or scrap the latest Final Fantasy XIII title (Lighting Returns) that actually shows some potential isn't helping either.

But let's say this random club member was telling the truth. Once Square Enix does show the game next year (and as I pointed out they don't seem to be in the same situation as Team Ico so why wouldn't they?) people will get excited all over again. So really, what's the point in getting angry... again?

Looking back, I think the only thing they did do wrong was show off the game too early. All they had, back in 2006, was a flashy cinematic with the basic premise floating around in Tetsuya Nomura's head.

This is the way I see it. They keep on saying Lighting's Final Battle and its called "Lighting's Saga", well wasn't there a FFXIII-3 domain somewhere? I don't think..this will close out FFXIII yet. Mark my word, FFVXIII and XIII-3 and KH3 for 2013. I still stick with what Square said that XIII is a 10 year deal. Going to be patient about this but it still sucks althought can't wait to see more of this Lighting Return game.

Not saying this will happen but if they were going to do it that way the Lightning saga be about her and hopefully not see a XIII-4 about Noel and Sara

It would confuse the hell out of the XIII-2 ending though,

the one where you see Lightning as a stone figure I believe or was it crystal. Anyway she gave the heart of chaos to Caius for one reason or another

Lighting Return is not FFXIII-3. This is going to be a game that will clarify final adventure of Lighting while the next FFXIII will be about Noel and probably bringing back Serah.

No, I get that. I'm still looking forward to the game myself. But as far as JRPGs are concerned, TGS is still right around the corner. I'm sure there will be something of interest announced then. And it's a bit premature to write off Lighting Returns without even seeing the game in action.

Also, possible Dark Cloud 3 announcement by Level-5. >_>
