What company has the MOST momentum heading into the next generation?

What company, judging how the current gen is ending, has the most momentum heading into next generation? If E3 2013 saw the announcement and release date of the PS4 and Xbox 720, what company is the feeling the most confident based on how the PS3/Xbox 360/Wii ends this generation?

Is it Sony with the PS3? They're in last or second place in terms of units sold, but the PS3 is considered the most underrated of the consoles.

Is it Microsoft with the Xbox 360? They're in solid second place with Kinect and a strong Xbox Live.

Or it is Nintendo? The Wii finished with one of the best games of 2011, Skyward Sword.

I think it's between Microsoft and Sony, with Sony edging out. So many IPs, so much content on PSN and PS+, wow I'm looking forward to next generation!

    its matters little.

Sony had all the momentum last time round. yet here they are. 50/50 split of the market.
it depends on what they achieve designing their respective consoles.

    Edit:
As much as i love sony. id say Microsoft have better integration of their devices, so momentum lies with them. market seems to lap this crap up for some reason (???)

Definitely Sony, they are going to hit next gen like a speeding bullet..Nintendo seemed to have stopped Wii games and MS are definitely slowing down.

Whereas Sony are continuing to announce new IPs and games.

Sony isn't showing any signs of slowing down with these exclusives.

"Judging by how the current gen is ending?", Sony. Pumping out tons of new games this year and next (you know the ones, PSABR, DUST 514, TLOU, Beyond, GoW:A, Rain, Until Dawn etc etc), releasing all of their previous games in budget collections, giving away 1st party Vita content + instant game collections via PS+, a rumored new SKU and price drop etc etc. Then there is Gaikai and what that means to next gen and finally the amalgamation of Sony music, movies and games all into the one SEN account.

Of course, this is just 'judging by how the current gen is ending', and is jus mah humble ohpiniun.

Ignoring the poll, I'd say Naughty Dog or Konami. But for the console makers it's a even toss up between Sony and Microsoft. Sony have the supiorior IPs and Microsoft have the more complete package in terms of services and kinect... I don't see Nintendo carrying on this momentum... The Wii-U is going to fall flat on its face.

Sony has all the momentum going into next generation. I think Microsoft has dropped the ball over the past few years. Ever since 2008 Sony has really been pumping out the exclusive games. Most gamers i know have gone back to Sony after playing the 360 the first few years this generation and are looking forward to the PS4 more than the 720.

Sony will return to dominance next generation. If 2013 is any indication of what's to come we're going to be in gaming paradise next gen.

    Sony, definitely.

They have a constant drive to showcase new and exciting IPs which will certainly help in the long run with Naughty Dog, SCE Santa Monica Studio and other talented development teams leading the way.

Very true. MS has come a really long way since last gen while Sony is just a shadow of its former self compared to last gen. As for the poll I definitely voted MS. But honestly its really pretty pointless to put up this poll since we all know the majority of people on a Playstation fansite are going to obviously vote Sony no matter what.

I guess it all depends on when the next gen starts.

From the looks of things I would say Microsoft has the slight edge. It seems the last few years have been great to them from a business perspective. They have achieved what they set out to do with xbox360,which is pretty remarkable when you compare it to what they did with xbox 1. The xbox 360 is still the NO.1 console so far in the U.S. and that is something that they will build on going into the next generation. I don't see sony taking back that market in the next few years.

I guess it all depends on who the gamer is. Some members would vote sony here but will go another route elsewhere.

I guess in about a years time we will see.. So far it seems like MS has the momentum to launch their next gen console first. Sony has already hinted that launching first isn't their strategy.

What can we expect ftom Microsoft? More of the same. What can we expect from SONY? Something new that might be successful. Being someone that owns almost all of SONYs gimicks I prefer it to more of the same any day. Bring on Wonderbook ^_^

MS easily for me. Considering all their perspective fields are finally coming together it seems pretty obvious to me. They basically showed up this gen being disjointed and still showed out. The xbox is still not really integrated with all their other products with smartglass being like a band aid fix until the next xbox comes. Windows Phone, skydrive, Windows 8, and the next xbox all integrated together. It's easily MS; they can do what no other can.

MS does this gen it was sony. So MS has the most to gain and lose this upcoming gen.

Sony is gonna be the dark horse than makes a comeback and Nintendo will be a solid contender.

bias has bugger all to do with it.

look where Sony were with PS2 and where they are now with PS3. going from 1st to 3rd in a generation is not a sign of momentum and that is what the question was.

Good point. I think sony is very concerned about where they are heading as a business as well as with the Playstation. The gaming industry seems to have shifted out of their favor from last gen. Its a more even split now. They are going to have their hands full next gen battling Nintendo and MS.

lol So now anybody who disagrees with your vote is biased? Just by saying something like that youre displaying your own bias. Talk about irony. Anyway like Yungstar said Sony has gone from 1st place last gen to last place this gen with only a fraction of the sales that PS2 had. Thats losing momentum not gaining momentum. So no I didnt vote for Sony because I see them losing momentum from last gen to this gen not because I'm "biased."

    Game wise? Sony
PS4 looks promising if we go by their performance now, which is a reason to look for Sony's console, mine you MS can turn it around but currently, not so much
    But anything goes

    Sent via Codec

    @ Rad
Well thats a stupid way to look at it, like you said Sony had the momentum, but Nintendo came out on top and 360 did way better then the Xbox, so why would you buy either of those when they did terrible last gen but base next gen on this gen, don't make sense
Unless ya bias, seriously like I said in the other thread, nothing to lol at unless ya saving us doing it
Nintendo has currently nothing to offer and MS don't show promise, but like I said that can change
Sony do show promise, but yet again
That too is up in the air but game wise, the reason we buy a console for, Sony has momentum

Sony clearly has the momentum advantage. Microsoft currently has like zero momentum right now. Hard to gain momentum when you have none.
