http://www.informationliberation.com/?id=40815Prince George's County, Maryland police officer Corporal Donald Taylor, a 13-year-veteran, claimed that after catching up to an aggressive youth who swung at him and began to flee, the youth reached for his gun, at which point he fired his gun at the youth in self defense. Despite this tale, newly released surveillance footage obtained by Fox 5 News shows the officer running up behind the youth, then smashing him in the head with his gun in a surprise attack, which triggered his gun to fire in the process.
The youth, 19-year-old Ryan Dorm, "spent about four months in jail before prosecutors dropped the charges against him," NBC Washington reports."Well, the video contradicts what the officer originally wrote in his charging documents,” said Dorm’s lawyer, Jimmy Bell. “What it shows is that my client didn't lie. They print my client is a criminal. They put his face on television saying he committed these crimes, and he didn't."Unfortunately, as is the norm in these cases, police will simply rob taxpayers to pay a settlement. As to the cop's punishment, last we heard back in August of this year, he was on "administrative leave" with pay for the past six months. The old saying, "crime doesn't pay," doesn't apply if you're a police officer.
Taylor was charged with second-degree assault last month.
Dorm and his lawyer filed a $10 million lawsuit against the police department and Taylor.

This is a complete joke, he got put in jail for 4 months too.
Can't wait to see Fear try to defend this one.

$10 million is to low, I would have gone for $20. Hitting him with gun, and it going off? This is def a bad cop. The kid will win the lawsuit no doubt, but prob not full amount as it is always cheaper to settle. Hopefully this cop will get removed from the force. This is the kind of Cop that gives the good ones a bad name.

I wouldn't say "good cop" or "bad cop" without the full story. It's easy to make a judgement against or for someone when you only hear and see one side. I agree to the point that it definitely doesn't look in his favor. I'm interested in finding out about the situation. Starting off with a man wearing a mask in a store....
That being said, if I was running down this other man, and caught up to him, I wouldn't be striking anyone with a gun lol. Whether he's a good cop, bad cop, in the right to get this guy in custody, it would be in my best opinion that hitting him with the gun was a bad decision; even if EVERYTHING else was in his favor.

I don't see anything in your post that actually has anything to do with reality. Can you explain what this adult being a teenager would actually have to do with attacking someone else? Also, why are you assuming anything that the cop said or did that you can't see on that video?
Have you read any actual reports, or anything from the agency regarding this? Or are you taking the quoted material in the OP as the be all end all of facts involved here?
Right now, we have a video of a cop hitting someone in the face/head with a gun. That's about it. Oh wait, we have a "victim" and a lawyer. Oh wait, we have an idiot also,Unfortunately, as is the norm in these cases, police will simply rob taxpayers to pay a settlement. As to the cop's punishment, last we heard back in August of this year, he was on "administrative leave" with pay for the past six months. Cop lied through his ass. I'd say he is reasonably fucked.

I'm often very skeptical when it comes to cases of police harming innocents. Usually it's "he said, she said." I'm glad there's video evidence to prove what went down, and the fact that the cop lied about it doesn't exactly bode well for him.

Yeah if the lies are true to what the lawyer is saying, it hurts the cops credibility pretty badly. I've not been able to come up with a good reasoning for the lies or hitting that man in the head/face with a gun.

I can not believe that cop took the safety off and then hit the kid in the head with it, and fired a shot while hitting him. That cop is so screwed lol
What is most shocking, is that the kid spent 4 months in jail. That is just horrible!

goodness. You know absolutely nothing about the gun he had. You're making assumptions, period, that's what your post was about. It didn't have anything to do with my post.
So, based on that video, he has a Glock? wtf we won't even go into the safety of the glock lol.

glock don't have a manual safety features like hammer guns(1911 style) do. It only have internal safety which prevent it from going off when u drop it or in this case pistol whip(hard lol). So if it a glock then I don't see how he could take off the safety...manually lol.

I'm not defensive at all. I NEVER said anything about the what kind of gun it was. It could be a Glock, or an H&K, Beretta, Sig, etc. I never said anything about what kind of gun it was. I was simply wondering why people automatically assume things that can't even be logical based on that video. You came in after my question to Lethal, bringing in assumptions that don't have shit to do with the question I asked, nor the video.
I was going to eventually bring up the trigger safety lol, but it wasn't even necessary to explain to him how the mechanism works on the Glock.
