"Project Crystallis" Fights For Us!

This morning we here at Blistered thumbs received some interesting information from a new Final Fantasy fan group, called “Project Crystallis,” that alerted us to their mission: bringing attention to and obtaining information about Final Fantasy Versus XIII and securing a western release for Final Fantasy Type-0 for the PSP. The group is focusing on these two games because they are part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythology which has been explored in Final Fantasy XIII 1+2. Despite being included in this same umbrella, we have not received clear information on the fates of either of these titles. Additionally, there have been murmurings that Final Fantasy Type-0 has been fully translated, but there have been no explicit plans to localize it by Square Enix.

The group has decided to adopt the tactics of fellow activists Project Rainfall, which increased awareness of several Nintendo RPGs, by petitioning Square Enix and spreading the word about the two games to raise interest. The end goal is just to receive clear information on the status of Final Fantasy Versus XIII and the possibility of a western release of Type-0. They are not trying to force the development team behind Versus XIII to speed up development, but “simply want clear info instead of the usual ‘Wait a little bit more,’ ‘Soon,’ or in this case ‘Wait till Next year’.” Project Crystallis stresses that they want to “simulate the peaceful approach of Operation Rainfall instead of the violent one like ‘Retake Mass Effect 3 ending’.”

So, what do you think? Project Rainfall’s model has been successful in getting North American releases of The Last Story and Xenoblade Chronicles, so there is definitely a precedence for fan communities and their petitions getting results. Project Crystallis’ requests are relatively small in comparison, so it would seem that they have a good chance at getting their information, given enough support. Don't forget about Type-O. Many fans consider that the best Final Fantasy in years, yet the West might not get it. So this will show we're still interested. An HD Vita release would make sense.

I am no fan of rushing people on unfinished projects (no matter how much time they take), but I will support the release of the finished FF Type-0. I been wanting to play that game, but I don't know Japanese, so I can't import it.

Right...because I'm an elitist for being disappointed that SE as a company can't live to the standard they set for themselves years ago right? I mean it couldn't be that I legitimately bought and played those SE games and it's my OPINION that they sucked right? I'm not a fan Because in my OPINION the company is sucking? If you wanna fool yourself and drink the SE Kool-Aid go ahead. If you legit feel that they've been making high quality games then thats your opinion. BUT DONT YOU FUCKING DARE, say im an elitist because in my opinion one of my former favourite companies have presented me with games that I and many others consider shit this entire gen.

I didn't say the company could do no wrong. I just don't see the point in coming into a Final Fantasy thread, bashing their latest game and expecting it to fail without even giving them the chance to present it through a trailer.

Many others have also enjoyed the games. We haven't played either of the newer titles though - Final Fantasy Versus XIII or Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII so there's no point in acting like one will be better than the other.

That would be fantastic. Just asking SE for info doesn't seem like such a big deal to me so it's sad that people feel they need to organize themselves online just to get updates. If there won't be a Vita (or PSP) release in the US then I'd be disappointed, but at least that would provide some closure.
