Chrono Trigger General Discussion Thread

Following the relatively popular Final Fantasy GDT that I made, I thought I'd make a thread about Chrono Trigger.

I have never played this game but bought it on the PS Store few weeks back and want to know what peoples opinions of this game is.

Also I will be playing this game very soon and want a place to discuss incase I get stuck or need help

If I remember correctly, the game has 7 different endings and several point in the game where you can finish the game. I only ever did 2 but I sure plan to play every ending.
Well as soon as I finish Ragnarok Odyssey, Persona 4 Golden, Zone of the Enders HD, Final Fantasy X HD which are all released this fall

What was it about the game that makes it your best game ever?

I can't really point to a single thing that makes it "THE" game for me, it's all about the little details that went into the making of this game.
First of all, the gameplay was like a well balanced mixture of the classic Final Fantasy games and zeldas a link to the past. It has the 16-bit look of FF and Zelda and the fighting takes place in the dungeons itself, not on a separate battle screen.
Then you have the time travelling story-arc where you jump through time and meet all those great characters, you see a post-apocalyptic world and the evil fiend changes the time and you get to see familiar places during different time periods. Really great.
You meet a cursed king (or was it a prince?) in form of a frog, there's robo, your robotic singing side-character (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANepZTX_RcE) with his awesome theme.
In general I find that Chrono Trigger has one of the greatest video game soundtracks of all time!

The game has whitty and sharp dialogue and complicated mature storyline. It's funny where it's appropriate, sad where it's necessary and dark in tone. It really has everything one could wish for!

Does this game have a world map like the FF games?

Yes it does. You have your world map, your towns / cities / dungeons. And of course different enemies depending where and when you are. There's also a motor cycle chase on a post-apocalyptic road which reminded me a bit of the first mad max movie

I've never actually beat this game but I've made it pretty far. I think I made it as far as the stone age.

Even if it is released in december I still have a full game roster:
October: Ragnarok Oddyssey
November: Persona 4 Golden
General Fall: Zone of the Enders HD
2012: Final Fantasy X HD

I think I made a mistake though, FFX is slated for 2012 but Zone of the Enders HD was slated for fall. Sorry for the confusion.

I liked it it was different. Loved the time travel,gameplay, and story.
May have to play this again sometimes theres a lot I wanna play before this. Haha.

Know what you mean man, I wanna beat FFV and platinum Sleeping Dogs before I start this but this is on my list lol

Yeah I think so too Peter. I'm trying to remember so hard but i don't recall an airship because of the time travel.

Played about an hour today, seems like a pretty interesting game so far.

Wasn't keen on the idea of the time travelling initially but seems to be a neat concept.

One other question, does this game have summons? Or anything similar?

Not sure. But I think they're called Elements. This game has tag team attacks though which i thought sere pretty cool.

Yeah unlocked a few 'duel techs' already but haven't used them yet.

I'll google it to see if the elements are similar to summons lol

I think it's more closer to "Magic" lol

The elements seem to be on Chrono Cross mate and replaces techs and items from Chrono Trigger
