Rumor: "Super Slim" PS3 model lands September 28th

I think it would be a great idea for them to come out with a 16GIG "super Slim" PS3 with a slot or a bigger HDD because then it would b cheaper for a starter or if some one wanted the best Blu-Ray player on the market who might occasionally play games. I think it would be a great way for them to makes sales and convert more people over to the "Better System".

I believe that will be the point. Lowering the manufacturing costs, resulting on a slimmer, cheaper PS3.

Yeah, i figured that but i just don't see the point of them doing this. Just lower the price of the current PS3 slim. I can't see this saving them that much money or making them that much money. Then again, even the smallest tweak in hardware seems to stir people into a frenzy and get them to go out and throw cash away for the upgrade.

The PS3 slim launch boosted sales and cut costs for Sony nicely. Hopefully if true this really gives them a push this holiday.

Its def a manufacturing savings for sony. That would be the only reason for doing this. I'm sure if this holds to be true they will phase out the current slim model

Redesigns always help sells and this is about all the cost savings of eliminating parts, shrinking components and making things cheaper....even shrinking the plastic casing saves money....every few dollars multiplied by millions of consoles is millions and millions in savings. Sony isn't necessarily doing it for sells...but for savings....it just happens to help sells though. That 16bg bare bone console for $149 will certainly stir peoples attention for the holiday....especially for families looking to upgrade from the PS2.

Tokyo Game Show 2012 is just over a week away. Yes, it is NEXT WEEK. We know the SS PS3 exists because the FCC documents were leaked. It seems highly likely the SS PS3 will be introduced at TGS and bundle announcement the following week.

I think it should be bundled with Starhawk. I just bought Starhawk and I haft to say it is one of the best PS3 games I ever played.The multiplayer is killer. Sadly it has not sold well even though there are hardcore players on alot of servers. It still needs to be promoted maybe if it was bundled it what get some notice.
