Resistance 1 had a good following, but they fucked it up with resistance 2. The MP was complete shit. All they needed to do was improve the graphics, build new maps and weapons, and call it a day. It wouldn't have been as popular as Halo, but it would have done much better than it did. Hopefully their new games are fun.

How can you have a Halo when you kill off the main characters??? Sony's closest hero is Kratos...and he is much more a badass. Someone had it right...Sony focuses on these memorable villians....and pit regular joes against them thinking we like to believe we all can stop them. Kinda like the Adam commercials.

I mean you got Snake...but that is a multiplat game. Sony isn't nearly as big an online console as XBOX. I would say 30% don't even play online. Microsoft has a lot of computer gamers that came over because of the similar franchises and online shooters. Sony is simply way more diverse with its First party titles. Not saying they are more diverse overall thats tough to say although I would probably say one could make it...but first part wise....not even close they have much more diverse genres and games and thoroughly focus on single player stories as opposed to online. Online gaming just isn't in their DNA. Creating dynamic stories and single player experiences...they got that in spades.

I get why people get online services in the States, because well, they get cool things via console over there. But what do you get for XBOX Gold here in NZ these days? As it wasn't really much when I had it.

Must be ok for you to pay for it if you're a limited online player like I am.

Well Gears 3 is great because it local, agianst Kiwis and aussies, the ping time in fanatastic.

Live is quite good value now, they actually have movies etc you can watch on and stream on their, its a far cry from the limitied service it was a few years ago.

Even better value if you have famaily, I paid $20 more and now have 4 live accounts, mine and 3 kids.
PLUS I control every asepct of what the kids can and cant play online and can keep track of the hours they spend on it..it frigign fantastic.

Nothign like showing my son the Live report of what he play and how long he wa son the Xbox to shut him up about not getting enough time on it

Insomniac took the franchise to a business approach to provide them more money, hence they saw the success of CoD and they wanted to follow it. Guess what? There were mix feelings about it. Obviously it wasn't a bad game (R2)but the direction they took lost its originality. Fall of Man was AMAZING since there was so many options.
