No Option for PS3 HDD Install for Black Ops 2
Via - http://www.charlieintel.com/2012/09/...r-black-ops-2/
Treyarch has finally spoken publicly about what PS3 fans can expect in regards to a HDD install option. Unfortunately, David Vonderhaar has confirmed there will be NO option for installing Black Ops 2 onto the PS3 HDD.
But, “Black Ops 2 has an option to “Install Textures to HDD,” posted Vahn.
“When we explained to PS3 folks that installing to the HDD wouldn’t neccessarily give us any significant performance gains, they explained back that the issue is they play so much it puts constant stress on the Blu-ray drive and wears them out.
It’s a non-trivial amount of HDD space to install all the textures. I don’t want to get into exactly numbers because anything can, and does change during development.
You don’t have to install to enjoy the game. We still pre-cache like we did on Black Ops.”

Might be due to the 12gb SKU coming.
Devs may be asked to avoid large install on HDD.When the Bogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.
when Chuck Norris goes to sleep every night, he checks under his bed for Daryl Dixon!!

this is the best explanation i can find.
Definition of: precaching
Pronounced "pre-cashing," it refers to software that downloads data ahead of time in anticipation of its use. For example, when a Web page is retrieved, the pages that users typically jump to when they leave that page might be precached in anticipation. An application might precache files that are commonly called for at some time during a session.
Precaching differs from Web and browser caching, in that precaching implies storing files that are expected to be used, whereas regular caching deals with files already requested by the user. Sometimes, the terms "precaching" and "caching" are used synonymously.
