The cost difference between having wireless N on the new system would of been pennies, and would have made many people happy. I personally use Ethernet, but it would have definitely benefited a lot of people being that there are so many download/streaming options on the PS3 now compared to when the system launched!

And using the PS3 as a media centre streaming movies form your computer to your PS3 If using wireless you get max 54Mbit and can have issues streaming high encoded 1080p video but using wired even at 100Mbit there are no such problems which is why I began to use wired.

Pennies across millions of consoles add up. And people don't give a shit anyways (I've complained about it since launch), so why should sony bother. If they cared they should have put this in the pipeline as soon as MS put wifi (which is n) in the 360 slim.
Besides anybody that is serious about gaming uses a wired connection, unless you actually want latency.
Sony needs to save as much money as possible if they want a good start to the next generation.

While it would add up to something over millions of consoles, that amount is still insignificant when you look at the bigger picture. Also, I agree with you 100%, if you have a wired connection available then definitely use it over wireless, but some people don't always have that option and using wireless is the only way to go for them. If they really wanted to cut cost they could have completely removed wireless from the system and sold it separately as a wireless module that plugs into the back of the console, or they could have removed the optical port and analog connection on the back and left it HDMI only as well. I am pretty sure the majority of televisions in people's homes now are HDTV's, does anyone seriously know someone who doesn't own at least one HDTV? If you don't, then you have bigger issues you need to be putting your money on than a PlayStation...

Just buy it from Ebay. Which did a comparison between the expensive cables and the cheap ones, and there was no conclusive winner.
This new slim wasn't as big of a bargain as I expected it to be. I thought they would of done 160GB version for like £180 or something accross those lines.
In fact I got my slim before this new one for £188 in Tesco which was 160GB.Last edited by MacP; 09-24-2012 at 23:53.

They likely save a lot of money not including those cables.

Is it 3D HD out of the box? No. Is this a fail move? Yes.

You know guys, you can connect a PS3 using the same component HD cable you hooked your PS2 up with if you really want to cry about it some more..

And you can connect the same composite cables from the PS2... So really, still a sorry excuse from a company that claims to be THE solution for HD and 3D content not to include HDMI that gives you both out of the box.
At this point most people have moved from SD to units that have HDMI inputs and I don't see where the extra cost is for them considering those cables are probably more mass produced than their proprietary AV output offeringsWhen the Bogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.
when Chuck Norris goes to sleep every night, he checks under his bed for Daryl Dixon!!

Saw it in person on the weekend. It's nice looking, nothing spectacular. The size compared to the fatty is crazy

I like the look of the original slim better.
