I'm not surprised. Sony said at least 10 years. I also think that a lot of devs won't be totally eager to drop the whole current gen userbase to accomodate a few million early adopters. The Wii U has kind of given them a bit more incentive to make games that run on current gens hardware.

Well time will tell, but the PS3 defintely has the right ingredients to last way into next gen.

Yeah I like the fact that when you buy a Sony console you know that Sony is going to support it for many years to come.

They are still releasing PS2 games lol Of course only a meager fraction of what they did before, and generally only sports games, but they are still getting released. PS3 has MUCH stronger legs to make it a lot more relevant as an entry level model moving into next gen. Well, let's see if Sony can leverage this or not.

I'll stop caring about the current gen as soon next gen is out but I'm sure this is good news for a whole lot of people.

No surprise, I'll probably still be playing PS3 then, not buying any next gen consoles until at least 3 years in after the failure rates of this gen.

So that's what the DUST beta is for..preparing for the full build when the PS4 comes out..now I'm interested in it again.

As for me, I'll wait one year after ps4 comes out, see if anyone reports YLOD's or whatever else, and if there's a slim version coming (which is inevitable) I'll get that.

I'm with the majority unless I'm completely BLOWN away with the PS4 then I won't have any problem waiting a while before I get it.

sony said this when the PS3 launched but games for the PS2 dryed up fast.

PS4 all the way. We just need that extra technical prowess for innovative gameplay to take place again.

Current-gen games have all become so expendable mainly because the AI is just not what it should be. No matter what game you're playing you always feel how the developers wanted to go for something bigger but were ultimately restrained by technical limitations.

And even multiplayer games like Battlefield 3 do suffer vigorously on consoles, especially when compared to their PC counterparts. 60fps vs. 30fps, 64 players vs 24 players, high-res textures vs low-res textures. It's just holding us back.

That's the main reason PS4 needs to happen. Like now!

Everyone says they'll wait a year or two before picking up the PlayStation 4 but you know once Sony unveils the console and shows off some of the launch titles that it'll be a day one purchase for sure.

I wish Guild Wars actually WAS on the PS3. But I guess that rumour didn't hold much truth...

However, I totally agree with you about FF 14. That shit can't get here soon enough!

MMO wise PS3 has a lot going on that can give it YEARS of life if that's what you're into. Diablo 3 is also reportedly coming eventually. If that ever materialises...Oh yeah!

Agreed. I tried to tell myself I would wait but I know as soon as I see the amazing launch titles on PS4 I'll be immediately going out to buy one. Not going to lie to myself anymore. lol
