    Digital Foundry Face-Off: Borderlands 2

it's clear the 360's more confident handling of the Willow Engine makes it the one to recommend on the console front.

Interesting read. To me the PS3 version looks a lot better, less muddy textures from the images shown, but yeah seems like 360 can run it better.. hmm. I'll stick to getting the PS3 version

LoT also supported 360 having blurrier textures. Still on a game like this, it doesn't really matter. Still, if you own a Vita, better to get the PS3 version...

Not surprised really. The 360 seems to win most of the comparisons....probably because it is easier to program for (from what I have read over the years). Buying 360 version, confirmed.

This was their deciding factor for those who don't want to read the article:

To summarise image quality, both the 360 and PS3 versions carry distinct visual leads over the other. On the one hand, the PS3 has sole command of a depth of field effect, which grants the game a distinct cinematic quality, while the 360 has free rein over both ambient occlusion and light shaft effects. In all, the deciding vote for us must be based on performance. Tearing is in abundance on PS3 during battle, though they're both liable to drop v-sync when under strain from smoke and fire effects in particular. Moreover, frame-rate drops are more regular and sustained on Sony's console than they are on the 360 version - we see hitches down to 20FPS while running through the Sanctuary hub-town, while the latter version gets away in holding out at the target 30.

Sounds like both versions have certain graphical advantages but I'll take performance over slight graphical differences any day. I cant stand framerate and screen tearing issues. And it sounds like it runs better on 360 as far as those things go. PS3 has framerate and screen tearing issues so I would definitely go for the 360 version. In a game like this performance is extra important.

I have the PS3 version and I have yet to see screen tearing or a drop in frame rate. sorry Xbox360er's but I must have a magical PS3 version or something. websites can say what they want but coming from sites like IGN and "Lens of Truth" which have made it obvious to being bias, I just know how the PS3 game runs since I have it. don't listen to the "derps" that don't have the PS3 version. I got it and have yet to run into any performance issues as well as playing online with 3 others.

So now Lens of Truth and Digital Foundry are biased. Well that wraps up the Internet gaming sites then. SMFH.

i'm sure this is a great game on either console. so why concern yourself that you have the slightly inferior version and try to big it up?

Why are sites biased when their findings don't jive with someone else's experience?

Yeah I always get a good laugh when people play the bias card when the comparison results dont turn out the way they hoped it would. lol

Or course you haven't because your hardly going to notice a screen tear or framedrop.
But then again, thats because its missing effects and low res alpha transparency.
Its not like the PS3 couldn't have done those effects. Just not at a decent framerate.
But as usual when it comes to post processing the PS3 pulls its weight (depth of field).

Still you never miss what you aint got.

    What?
I don't think they have ever been different, outside of the odd poorly programmed Japanese games, and the odd post processing effect (which the SPU's slice through like hot butter).

Games are like woman, what you might find attractive I might not, and none of us know if we really like them untill we have played around with them for a while.

I was referring to that point if view, seem sing a different tune?
ie, if the results were BL2 being better on 360 people wouldn't say it doesn't matter

It only matters to those that either own both consoles, or those who still delude themselves into thinking the PS3 is graphically superior in all aspects.
There is no black and white, its all shades of grey.

Ya I heard on g4tv and other reviews about the issues with the xbox 360 version of the game. I have a ps3 and have been playing borderlands 2 and was pretty amazed at the game's graphics and gameplay. Being a person who has never played borderlands this game blew me out of the water. I have been playing non stop since borderlands 2 release and no glitches yet. I havent seen the framerate drop or anything even when I'm in a heated battle. THis game rocks!
