You're playing your PS3 or Xbox 360. Suddenly, the system shuts off and your ps3 gets yellow light of death or your xbox 360 gets the red ring of death.
My question to you, is if that happened, who is most likely to get better customer service and support? Will you get it with your 360 if you call Microsoft or will you get it with your PS3 if you call Sony?
Oh, and this isn't limited to malfunctions but includes other problems or situations.
I've never owned an Xbox 360 and I don't know much about it, so I don't know.
I'm curious to see what the multiplatform gamers on here say.

Cant say. I always had a Best Buy extended warranty that would let me trade in the broken console for a new one. Best Buy doesn't do that anymore now. But I have been on the phone with both company's customer service for other stuff and found both to be pretty good.

I've had one of each current console die on me this gen. (Lucky me, right?)
MS and Sony were tied for the worst by far. The MS rep treated me like I was an idiot and the rep from Sony WAS an idiot. Both were incredibly frustrating experiences.
Nintendo, however, was amazing. I got a woman on the phone immediately and english was clearly her first language. She asked me the problem, I told her, and she said they'll gladly replace my console. Two days later I had my new Wii and all it took was a 2 minute phone call.

I had both a YLOD and a RROD. I had to go through the horrible process with both companies. They were both pretty bad. They were going to charge me to fix my xbox because it was out of warranty by 3 fucking days. But then Microsoft announced the big 3 year plan, and I was off the hook.
As for Sony, the person treated me rather poorly. I knew English wasn't his first language, and to try and soften my anger, he tried to relate to me about the big games of the time. Since it was going to cost so much to fix, I just waited for the slim to release and bought that instead.
I feel for anyone who has to deal with that crap. In my experience it wasn't great.

My vote is going to Sony here.
I haven't had a problem with my PS3 personally since it's the most well built machine i've ever owned. I've heard from others though that have had issues such as the YLOD or anything else that when they called up Sony they shipped them out a brand new PS3. No questions asked.
Now that's customer service done right.
