Members also tell the site about the technical problems and glitches, and they're STILL here! Buttons still don't work and glitches are still around. It's fustrating.
I wouldnt say "members", I'm sure majority of them either like or just don't care if it stays or not. I really dont see the big deal about it.

It's almost like this forum has become "sissy sensitive" o.O just put the option back on, if people don't like someone and they dislike their post, then big deal, that's really between them and is nothing more than entertainment for everyone else. As well as if they are disliking the post, maybe it's because they just don't like 90% of the persons post regardless of their intentions. there are a couple of people here where I could dislike their posts every single time because their mindset is obviously way different than mine. sometimes I will dislike them because sometimes I just don't like them but at the same time their post may be a bit ridiculous while trolling intentions are obvious.

imo, this forum is a bit strict as well as seeing people that use to post here get big infraction hits. a lot of them aren't here anymore. lol
If you dislike someone because you don't like them, that means you should use the other feature called putting the member in your ignore queue.

Its like this, some will abuse the dislike and like buttons.... they are both abused at certain points.

Its up to the members to be smart and use them right. But if you take it out, then the like button will be abused now that its the only option. Also rep was once the like and dislike option rolled into one, so why three options instead of one. It makes no sense or am I missing something here

I think its fine, facebook did it ><

Like a post to support it, don't like it if you're indifferent or don't care for it.

Personally I really don't mind if dislike comes back or not, but I think having at least 'like' is a good feature

Personally I wouldn't object to keeping the dislike button. If someone wants to go around and 'dislike' every single post of another member, well then that successfully makes the 'disliker' look like an idiot. If someone wants to make themselves look stupid have at it and have fun.

This is irrelevant to the discussion but I'll bite.

Simply put, it's frustrating when the Community Manager and other staff members get the run around because the people who are supposed to get back to us, if at all, take such a long time to do so.

I actually remember bringing up a solution for one of those problems, where I recommended using a different browser, like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. Internet Explorer is more often than not slow and broken.
As a Web Developer I can say with a professional level of confidence that Internet Explorer is indeed a broken piece of shit.

It is the web browser of cavemen.

The core issue is member behaviour not the button itself. If you want to stop people being harassed, deal with the person doing the harassing - it doesn't matter what you turn off, somebody who wants to be abusive will go on doing so; just in a different way. I think we're focussing on the wrong 'problem' here.

On the button itself, I quite like it and would rather it stayed.

That's something we've taken into account, believe me, but this is only temporary. If the member(s) persist in other ways then the mods won't hold back.

If its a member behavioral problem strictly then absolutely the mods will be more than happy to layeth the smackdown....but it is also the responsibility of the member that's being harassed to bring it to their attention.

Mods to a good job about staying on these things from what I have seen also most members on the forum are adult enough to resolve things between themselves for the most part especially with the back and fourth part. I've been guilty of it but always defer in those situations or agree to disagree

No need of bringing back that feature. Its not really that useful and if it get abused there is no reasonable fix for that.

Look, just drop both and use what we used before the rep options . That is the like and dislike option rolled into one as like before, so why add two when one is the same....

That really isn't at all relevant. If you're only comparing IE with itself- sure it has 'improved'. If you compare it to the ever advancing host of superior browsers (in particular Chrome, Firefox and Safari), which is the proper context, then not really.

It's slow, difficult to develop for (which impacts user experience for all), and a massive security risk.

Forums should be made compatible with the most popular browsers and that includes internet explorer no matter what anyone thinks of it.
