Sony is too stubborn to admit that....Atleast Nintendo did with the 3ds and did something about it

The Vita cost a lot more to produce so its a lot harder to cut the price, remember the 3DS was released at the same price as the Vita which is a lot more powerful and has more expensive tech. Was a lot easier for Nintendo to cut the price of the 3DS when they tried to make massive profits at launch

$250 for it is an amazing price as much as most of you like to dismiss it. Problem is Sony not advertising the damn thing enough and the damn overpriced memory cards. If people fork $600+ on a stupid iPhone, entry price isn't a problem, marketing is.

Most people don't pay 600 bucks for an iphone they pay an upgrade fee which is around 200 to 300.
Vita costing as much as a ps3 and offering almost the same content isn't helping the vita's cause...
Vita is impressive spec wise for sure just its a portable console even at what they are selling it at now sony is losing money and not enough content that makes it a must have...yet
