Why Assassins Creed 3 Xbox 360 is shipping on two discs

    http://www.nowgamer.com/news/1615369...two_discs.html

Assassin's Creed 3's developers explain that the game is too big for one disc on Xbox 360.

    Published on Oct 2, 2012

Assassin's Creed 3 will follow Resident Evil 6, Battlefield 3, Rage and Mass Effect 3 when arrives via two discs for Xbox 360, Ubisoft Montreal has confirmed.

"It's two discs on 360 and one on PS3," AC3 creative director Alex Hutchinson told NowGamer. "You'd be surprised what blows the disc. Sound blows the disc, but also videos. What was scary for us was we blew the disc with no... there's only like two videos in the game, the rest is in-game cut-scenes. We were like 'we're still blowing the disc? That's terrifying.' It's by far the biggest game I've worked on."

Exact details on how the content id divided is unclear, but constantly changing discs won't be an issue.

"Don't worry, there's not going to be like, disc-swapping if you get to the end of chapter 3 and having to swap over - that's not going to happen. We've separated it," added animation director Jonathan Cooper.

Pressed on whether Assassin's Creed 3 simply comprises a one-time disc-swap half-way through the game, Cooper added: "No, it's not even that. We won't talk about how it's done... but don't worry about it, you won't be jumping back and forth."

Yeah but you still need to do disk swapping don't you? I installed both ME2 and 3 (both disks for each) and still had to swap disks.

But in that link, (which id like to ad to the op) it says that they won't have disk swapping? I'm confused I guess a content install disk and a game disk

I misread that part apparently. Oh well, doesn't really matter to me if its one disc swap or none. I'll most likely be getting the PS3 version of this game anyway.

    except it doesn't
it says there will not be a disc swap.

they don't say what the solution is but the explicitly state it wont be a disc swap.
most likely an install disc before you start playing.

    PC for me.

Like I said, it doesn't matter to me whether its one or NONE. That was rhetorical. I already said I misread the statement in the article.

why do these companies always feel the need to explain why something comes in multiple discs for the 360? pretty self explanatory especially that for a game like AC3 (big open worlds).
    My backlog.

This isn't nothing new. I'm pretty sure most xbox owners know there will, most likely, be disc swapping.

I'm guessing (because its open world) people get worried that they are going to have to swap back and fourth while traversing the world. But people always complain about everything anyway

Yep, plus its not like multi disc games are anything new for 360 gamers.

More games should do this, dunno why devs limit themselves to 1 DVD when it costs them nothing for another disc.

perhaps because most games don't need more than one disk?

Since PS3 is also lead platform I see no reason to get this on the 360 now. Well for OCD sake it might make sense, as I've got all previous entries on the 360. But lead platform, one disc and that extra 60 min mission or w/e makes it a no brainer

Same reasons that I'm going with the PS3 version. One disc and extra missions. Except I disagree with the OCD part of your post.

I have grew out of AC. I liked the first and second, didn't like Brotherhood enough to even complete it, skipped all others since. I won't be getting this game. If I changed my mind though I'd be getting it on Xbox 360 but I doubt I'll be changing my mind.

I'm getting it for PC where I need no disc. But I hope that DLC doesn't stay PS3 exclusive forever.

OCD sake, so those of us who buy the 360 version because like all other versions it plays best on consoles means we have something wrong with us? Wow.

PS3 is lead platform but there's a reason for that, it's because the PS3 version was never on par before, this way it is on par, not better, just on par. The PS3 has the exclusive 60 minutes (4 missions) content, that'd be a solid reason for buying the PS3 version however.

I can understand if people are not willing to agree, but I do not need people to agree.
