I love this so called mess of a PSN, how old are we 5? If I can understand the mess some of these games are I think I can figure out how to use the PSN.
It's painfully easy to use and I rarely ever experience lag, pretty good for free eh?
The truth hurts.

Proofs in the pudidng and all that, but given your getting every update ever send through to you PS3, we wouldnt expect you to have issues.
But I for one would be pissed of no end to find out that "you can play this with others on line because your verison is 1.23 and there's is 1.34."
Do you honestly beleive that PSN is as popular for online play?
How have they already paid? Xbox live was launched on the original Xbox.
you clearly dont remember PSN at launch.

Well your the one with PSN, you tell me.
On live you basically cannot play on live unless you install the patch, decline the offer and your diconnected from live.
there is no way of going online with a game and having the wrong verison of the game.
I'd also like to point out that I would have got 7 years of XBL for the extra price of a PS3 when I bought my 360, so Im still ahead of the "free" PSN.

So whats the point in auto updates on PSN+?
Talk about paying for a nothing feature.
What fingers do you need to lift if you dont have this?Automatic Update gives you the choice to receive the latest PS3™ system software and all your latest game updates without lifting a finger. It can enable automated Trophy sync and game saves with PlayStation®Network or deliver selected game and video content directly to your console.
Thats a joke right? Really? It can enable automated Trophy sync

Some updates are mandatory, some are not. (I don't know what you're arguing on about though).
PS+ is really about the games. Call it a rental service or what you will, but I've never seen anyone berate GameFly or Netflix. But since it's Sony it's suddenly ok....
Trophy sync and cloud service are just extras of that service.
But hey, if people want to shit on it, they're welcome to. Just don't see the point just because they don't own or like the system (as much as their Xboxes).
One service being good does not invalidate the other fyi.
And I've never argued against Live. And even there are those that do, my point still stands.

Im not shititng on anything (I cant belive you have to pay for automated trophy sync though), Im just trying to understand what exactly "auto updates" entails.
On Live you put a game disc in, it will say there is a patch, do you want to downlaod it yes or no?
What happens if you dont have PS+ and put a game disc in the PS3?

Well my original point was, why not just give that stuff to all users (auto updates), and just leave + as a rental and cloud service.
It seems silly to have a part of the nework thta actually enables better network play as an optional paid for thing.
As for trophies, given this is a feature free to all user of the 360 from day 1 silver or gold members, Im just surprised.

No one said it's holding anyone back from buying a PS3?
You can own a PS3 and not even bother with hooking it up to online.
And if you back to my original post, you'll see where I said PS+ is actually a really good rental service.
So not sure where your coming from or what your reading today.

Woah, its the same on PSN, insert a game and if there is an update you download it.
I on the other hand have it pre-updated and jump right in
Even for games I don't touch, if they have a 1gb patch or update its done too without wasting my precious game time.
Good thing I have a 750gb hdd. Space is no issue
If you pay for internet why wouldn't you connect your PS3? Again its free!Last edited by mickice; 10-12-2012 at 03:34.

Its just like Live. You pop in the disk and it prompts you to update. Doesnt matter if your PS+ or not unless you've enabled the auto update feature as a PS+ member. I dont bother with that feature myself and I'm a PS+ member. I just like the game rental aspect of it and the game discounts plus the free avatars and themes.

Yeah I get that now, Im just trying to figure out if mickee just updates all his game because he can, or weather he can choose the games that recieve his auto update. I mean I've played a bucket load of games, but I dont own even 10% of them these days.
If you can, then I think the auto update is pretty cool feature, mind you I don think I've ever waited for more than a minute or two for updates on Live?

They all update, I guess if you traded or sold a game you could just delete the game data.
Its a nice little convenience. An optional time saver.
Everyone else still gets free online, free web browser and free PSHome to meet new people and play free games.
When you cut all the fat, options and extras. You guys are simply paying to allow an online connection and I don't. You guys did last gen and probably will next gen too.
PS2, PSP, PS3, PSVita never cost me a cent for online multiplayer. Fact.

Well, as I have said, MS was the first to unify, so I guess they could choose what they wanted to do.
There is a lot of stuff that simply free regardless of silver or gold on XBL, but yes there are a few things that make gold worth getting.
At the end of the day the online game I play the most aren't on the PS3 so its all moot, if i want to play Halo online I have to have live.
But as I have also said, even paying, I still have another year before PSN "free" online would actually become free for me.
Or if you like, I've nearly paid for My Xbox360+Live subscriptions for the past 6 years as much as I would have paid for a PS3 6 years ago. Even today the price difference on models is worth 2 years XBL to me.

As a newly subscribed member to XBL (12mths) i really cannot see what i am getting for my £15 a quarter, over what i get for free on PSN??
And paying to create a new account....? Fuck right off haha!!
Cross game chat? Nope not needed.
Gay avatar? Hmm yeah ok you want me to pay £4 to dress up huh?
Haven't noticed that it is supposedly quicker to D/L anything, PSN is quick enough for me.
Games are just as laggy/unlaggy on both networks.
Im sorry but £60 a year (even if you can get it cheaper) is a joke,in my opinion. I just wanna be able to jump straight in and play online, which i have already paid for with my ISP, without having to piss about shopping for a code. Hence i have an almost new 360 just sat there, played about 4 times in 12 months.
