Never understood Xbox Live. I think most simply pay because they are forced too.
I really like PSN+ alot, auto game and system updates, 1gb online save data storage, oh and the games plus discounts.
I would highly recommend a 750gb hdd upgrade if you are getting PSN+ because you are going to fill your hdd very quickly thats how good the service is.Last edited by mickice; 10-10-2012 at 03:44.

Its nothing like it, paying to make sure you have a free patch of a game? really?
That's insane, and would make a mess of XBL.
How the hell do people ever get on matchmaking etc, only to find that their version of the game wont run with other because it hasn't been patched, that's friggin nuts.

Its a chicken and the egg situaiton though, wiohout pay to play, live woudl neve rhave become what it is today. An dI dont wnat auto updates to bcoem somethign I pay for, thats a serivce that does the Live network a great deal of good, without it, it would be a mess, and without it I can see why PSN is a mess.
MS made live the first unified online console service, frankly "should" is something they make the rules up about not other people.
If they wanted to charge, they can dam well charge.

I'll gladly pay if the service is far superior like this gen.

I still pay, I was considering switching to PSN this year for Black Ops 2 but after thinking about it for a day or two I decided to just renew my Gold Sub for the better service and early DLC.

I believe you are a little confused, everyone gets the same updates just being on + my system at 4pm when I work kicks on looks for updates and patches does them then shuts off.
The problem with live is simply this, you and your mate can play a PS3 game together just fine but on Xbox for the same game you both need to pay for Live.
Unless there is a revolution in Xbox camp you guys will most likely be paying next gen too.Last edited by mickice; 10-10-2012 at 14:48.

It's a rental and discount service but the discounts are so small that the service is practically a rental service.

So, say you played Batman, clocked it neve rintend to play it again, and the system will still go and download the update for it? Thats still nuts.
Xbox live is the better service, end of story, thats why we pay for it.
If you could see what I can do with my ipHone, my borhter in laws Andriod, my web browser form work, all that stuff integrates seemlessly into live these days.
Look at this way.
PSN is nearly about where Live was when it launched at the beginning of this gen (missing cross game chat which is again - a feature that makes the service so isolated) but Live has long since moved on past that. I mena can you remote control your PS3 from you iphone?

Unless you have a Vita and have used it to remotely turn on your PS3 and browse your PC, you can take the rigmarole out of that post. Commenting on something you have clearly never tried before, "really?"

If you have PS3 media center set up well you are browsing your computer files in seconds.
If I want I can watch any episode of Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Walking Dead etc, or any of my anime, or any of my movies or countless series I have archived, effortlessly over wifi.
This is the voice of experience speaking.

Big discounts? Like what? $2 off a PSN game? That's not BIG.
Trophy auto-sync should not be a paid feature.
The discounts I see on PS+ are so miniscule I often wonder "why bother". I have never seen anything discounted enough to be worthwhile, and that discounted item often becomes one of the "free" games that aren't actually free cause you're paying for them by having the service subscription and then eventually losing them if you don't re-subscribe.Last edited by emmerich; 10-10-2012 at 15:01.

is it really a good thing to be paying to play demo's early? and while it may be considered by some as renting games, you get a choice of ten at a time. it's not like there is a BIG choice of said rented games (45 over a year).
i must have had my PS3 switched off that day.
paying to save online is not worth £40 a year. does it trophy auto-sync every time you get one or does it do them all the following day and i'm sure the auto patching is only for recent played games.
i'd say it is a great service to new ps3 owners and not so great for those who have bought and/or already played those rental games.
