Same could be said about RE6, Thats what the reviews say
So its a over the shoulder shooter that inspired by Uncharted which was inspired by RE4
Tomb Raider is a different kettle of Fish
Uncharted is a shooter/platformer, Tomb Raider is a platformer/puzzler
Ones a adventure game the other is action/adventure FPS
for how different they both are you just have to look at Tomb Raiders combat system, it has auto lock on and has very few enemies
Uncharted has manual aim, cover system loads of weapons and a melee system
Yes lara can kick, but its not the same and even that is a auto lock on

Ahh....what have I started...
No. I don't think you have.
Uncharted seems to have taken inspiration from one game and one successful movie franchise imo, Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones.
Love Uncharted and it's not a knock to believe ND was inspired by these two I mentioned.
Gameplay of Tomb Raider and Uncharted isn't that similar -- they do use third person perspective, yes...but so do many other games. Shooting isn't even the main focus of Tomb Raider.
I am just saying that the examples a lot of people like to give to say TR influenced Uncharted aren't that obvious because of how far gaming has come now.....so yes there could have been influence. At the same time....it's possible that it wasn't the case.
When I play Uncharted, I think TR all the time due to my previous experience playing all the TR games.
Not sure why.
I don't think anyone here said TR was the first to introduce any of that. As I mentioned before, TR and UC really copied Pitfall from back in MY day.
I didn't say anyone here was saying that....so OK.
You are better at making a case then this. Come on. That is like saying GT didn't copy Forza or Forza didn't copy GT....because then that means they copied Need for Speed, Grid, PGR, Dirt, Pole Position, F1. The two games we are discussing are substantially closer in similarity than say Uncharted vs. Mario
OK? All those games have one thing in common -- platforming. I think platforming is established enough as of now where developers do have an idea of what type of gameplay a platforming game will have without having to reference other games (not saying they won't....just making a point here.)
Any many other do see it. Not a big deal.
That's cool.
It doesn't mean anything, you are correct. We are just all voicing our opinions on a game forum.
And...?

@Sainraja- And I dont think you have either (disproved it) which is why I said we'll just have to agree to disagree.

This is not like Sain, as he is normally more articulate in his opinion rebuttals. Rad and I have given exact details and examples of why we feel the way we do. Yet Sain has only replied with "lol" and "they are not similar".
Clearly we will not be able to agree on this opinion. Probably time to move on from the subject.

I've stated why they are different, I believe you replied with sarcasm
Tomb Raider is Platforming exploreration game, a third person adventure game with a auto lock on mechanic for combat against wild animals mostly, Uncharted is a over the shoulder shooter with full on combat gameplay
Uncharted is closer to the newer Resident Evils
then Tomb Raider, same as Tomb Raider is closer to Prince of Persia
Combat ain't that good but the platforming is where its at
Though if Uncharted is a Clone of TR, then so is Resident Evil, Gears of War, MGS4 etc
But if you mean that they both hunt for treasure in exotic locations then I suppose Halo is a rip off to everything with a Space marine in it, which there are a lot of FPS's with Space marines in them
I think the most unoriginal game out there is(I know whats coming) Gears Of War
They just took Unreal and dumped it in that PS2 game by Namco

EVERY GAME IS INDIANA JONES
http://www.1up.com/features/every-game-is-indiana-jones

Indiana Jones' reach doesn't end there, though. Partially because of the era when the character rose to fame, his influence has washed over gaming, whether it is incidentally like Pitfall or Tomb Raider or purposefully like Prince of Persia and Uncharted. Most likely, if you're playing a video game featuring whimsical adventures, the developer might have been humming the tune to Indiana Jones at some point.

No doubt TR had influence on the Uncharted series. ND's co-president (Evan Wells) is even a former Crystal Dynamics employee. Looking at the new TR game it looks to have borrowed some things from Uncharted. For example, it looks to be more cinematic like the Uncharted series.

As Tomb Raider was one of the pioneers of 3D, it has had a major influence, especially in the action/adventure genre.
