Look, just about anyone can release a trailer with bad acting and cheap digital effects that they put together on a Macbook but to say the trailer looks better than Evolution isn't really saying anything. Attempting to follow the source material more closely doesn't give it a free pass either.

I admire their passion but this just doesn't do it for me. Sorry.

I don't think anyone is really giving it a free pass imo. While it does stand to have major improvements in all the areas, you have to admit, DragonballZ: Evolution was a total flop in every sense of the word. I'd say, just give it time and let them do their thing. And don't put your expectations so high. You'll only set yourself up for disappointment if you do. I think the trailer itself is better than the entirety of Evolution. Of course, I also find that this trailer doesn't do the anime series justice. It's a great attempt considering everything though.

I think that's the point... they don't have to try very hard.

I'm not a big DBZ fan or anything, but honestly, DBZ in itself is pretty freaking cheesy. It was never very serious to begin with. Even when they're being serious, it's cheesy.
