Indeed it is ONLY the lifetime insurance for the ships you have purchased for the original backers only, we only have until November to purchase the ships we want lifetime insurance for too but then thereafter that's it.

Currently I only have the 300i but wanting to get the Aurora, Avenger, and perhaps either the Hornet or Cutlass.

    Nice!

I've watched some of the hanger videos with people showing off their ships, and the $#@!pit view in the 300i looks impressive.

Some of those ships are nice and yep I'm very happy with the 300i, such a nice looking ship that's for sure. The Constellation though is just... *jawdrops*

I like the Hornet and the Scythe myself, but the Hornet pledge package and all the ships above it are ridiculously priced IMO. You have to hand it to them though, they realised people would throw money at their monitors and leveraged it expertly.

I made a thread on their forums asking if you could fly into the sun. And the general nature of the sandbox. Getting a mixed reaction but that is probably the most important thing in a space sim for me, how good a sim is it?

The Constellation is jaw-dropping to be sure, but so is the price!

I'm probably going to pledge for the Arbiter package with the 325a.

Not a fan of this real money for in game money stuff. Other than that it looks great.

It's not real money for in-game money, it's real money for purchasing ships which will have life-time insurance, that's it. So if one of our ships goes "pop" then at least we'll still have it.

Is it worth the money? Not really but it's something we're all doing to help fund the game which is coming along really nicely. Can't wait till the combat simulator appears towards the end of the year.

I didn't strictly mean those pledge packages I mean in general. I read the article about it https://robertsspaceindustries.com/c...241-17-Million. They say you shouldn't be able to buy items, so add a layer of currency which you can buy with cash then use to buy your items. I don't see that being any better.

I just checked it out and they said "refer to it as like purchasing a skin", so I guess if you've played League of Legends then it's basically the skins you purchase and nothing to make you overpowered.

Well if it's just cosmetic then happy days but it would be good if you could still acquire in game the same things. A shame it's so far away, I'm craving a good Space game and I doubt the new X:Rebirth will satisfy.

They have said that everything will be available in-game, thankfully.

I should also point out that Voyager Direct is intended only to sell cosmetic items or basic ship items that would be available on pretty much any planet the better items will always have to be bought by actually flying to the appropriate planet or earning the via gameplay. There is no need to buy anything from Voyager Direct it is all OPTIONAL and should be viewed the same way that you view paying for a subscription or buying a skin. All of this will be earnable in the game, without too much time invested.

Im very opposed to having a game where ANY of the items, outside of your initial game / ship package can be only purchased with cash. I hate the bifurcation of items in most online games, even when they are just for flair items. I want Star Citizen to allow players to earn everything they need in-game for ships, upgrades and even flair.

I have finally backed this game - just purchased the Avenger game package.

The hanger runs terrible for me on low settings (20 fps), but I'm trying to stay with my 5850 gpu until Maxwell is released.

    ~<39 Million.. wow.

They also are changing from old shading pipeline to one with PBR (Physically Based Rendering.)
This means they will have to redo all surfaces in the game.

    Results are worth it though..

If you want to know more about PBR.

I am actually holding off on building a new system until this game and Oculus Rift come out, that way I can get the most bang for my buck! This game looks absolutely amazing so far!

Didn't realize there was a limit.

I might go for the Avenger.

The limit is for the alpha slots. If you're not bothered about that you can still back it after the alpha slots run out.

The Avenger is a nice ship. It took me a while to decide to go with that instead of a 325a.
