Retro City Rampage demo/full game impressions

I only tried out the demo earlier this week but don't really know how I feel about it. I guess it's because the game is supposed to pay tribute to classics released before my time so I don't get a lot of the references. I mean, I know about Mario, Duck Hunt and Back to the Future, but yeah...

    What did you guys think?

I have the game and I love it. It really brings out the best of the 80's and 90's. It is a parody of so many games that it just give me a good feeling while playing it. I think gamers that are 25 and older will the get the most enjoyment out of this game. The ones that actually played the originals growing up.

Yeah, I'm sure it's a good game. The top-down perspective reminds me of GTA 2 but it's more of a love letter for you 'old-timers'.

A lot of the stuff I've seen, especially the Metal Gear segment, looks fantastic. I'd have it by now but paychecks aren't super awesome, hopefully next week.

As far as being an old-timer, not so much. A lot I have just absorbed through forums and the gaming community.

Great concept, but I think the graphic style is just a tad too dated for me. Basically 8-bit NES level stuff.

If it was SNES looking graphics, I'd be immediately on board though, but I can't go farther back than that. SNES was my first system afterall.

I grew up on SNES/Genesis games so I agree with you there.

It looks great. But he's gone totally retro though so you can't have the correct screen format (You actually can, but it's on purpose so it looks more retro). Best choice IMO is to go with one of the "TV simulator" options going.
I wish for it to get some update allowing me to play with proper 16/9 settings.

I like the game and there's quite a lot of stuff to do. But I was hoping for the driving to feel better. There was NES games with way better feeling in that regard.
Other than that I can't really complain. Gotta love the music too!

Does it support resolutions like 1920x1080? Is the game like GTA or it just has multiple different missions and only some of them are like GTA?
