i have no idea what is wrong. ive been using the same hdmi cable and setting for about a year now so it has nothing to do with that, i was playing a game then it froze, i shut off my ps3 and restarted it, it says its on (green and blue light come on) but doesnt show up on my screen. i tried replacing the hdmi AND putting the old av cords back in but nothing works, joined this forum just to ask this question because i can not find anything else like this online? is my ps3 just completely broken or is there an easy fix ?

Did it happen after you update your ps3 system software like version 4.25 coz some people ps3 broken after updating to 4.25 and i have heard of people having the same problem as you im sorry but i dont no how to fix it but you could try call up sony

Try holding down the power button until you hear two beeps. It resets the output back to 480i and then switch it back to 1080p. If nothing. Your hdmi cable may have just died on you.

Sounds the PS3 could just be broken.
It's rare but it happens. I haven't had either my fat or slim PS3 break on me yet.
