Warner Bros gets sole rights to Superman

And Superman goes to Warner Bros. The film, TV and music-producer has won a case against the heirs of the creator of the Superman character.

A court in the US ruled that Warner Brothers would retain the rights to the Superman in full despite the original artist Joe Shuster heirs’ claim for part of the copyright.
DC Comics owned by Warner Bros. will keep its rights to the character. In 1992 shortly after Shuster died DC Comics took over his debts and paid his family a $25,000 annual income. According to the judge this lost the Shuster family its right to reclaim copyright.
“The 1992 agreement, which represented the Shuster heirs' opportunity to renegotiate the prior grants of Joe Shuster's copyrights, superseded and replaced all prior grants of the Superman copyrights,” US District Judge Otis Wright wrote in his decision.
The Shuster family is now expected to appeal the decision.
The Superman character was created by American writer Jerry Siegel and Canadian-born American artist Joe Shuster 80 years ago. The artists sold their creation to Detective Comics, Inc. (later DC Comics). Superman has become one of the most popular comic books characters, with his iconic S-shield on his tight blue red and yellow costume with a cape.
Superman has earned Warner Bros. billions of dollars with five Superman films, television productions, related toys, games, and comic books.

Warner Bros. is set to release a new “Superman” film “Man of Steel” in 2013.

The developers of the videogame should go the Batman Arkum City route with the Superman series. Give it a darker, gritter feel and open world.

The new movie is supposed to be darker and more realistic than the previous movie. Should be interesting.

True, which is why Marvels doing good. I think they want to differentiate Batman, and Superman from Marvels heroes. Give them a more mature appeal.
