Backing up PS3 saves through USB

So, most of my newest game saves cannot be saved to a flash drive. The only copy option that shows up now is the PS+ Online Storage, meaning I have to be a PS+ subscriber just to backup most of my game save files. Not sure who is behind this new development, but I just wanted to thank the responsible party(s) for the dick move.

Do name all of those copy protected save games, so that we know what companies are to blame for it.

Alternatively you can back up all your saves to an external USB drive with the backup/restore function and possibly just have a solid record of all the files that you can re install in case of a fatal drive issue. The locked save files have been a pain in the butt for years and some developers do from time to time unlock them.I suppose your only hope is to start lobbying for unlocked saves as I really dont understand the point of locking them at all.

Yeah I used to back up my saves on a usb but after a couple years almost every game made that impossible. The worst one for me was Demon's Souls. Losing everything after my first PS3 died.

this has been the case the a long time backing up to a usb you can do most games like cod and stuff. some sony games you cant.
but just get a month of plus and save it to there severs or use a hard drive

Sony is not the one to blame here. Devs lock game saves to prevent cheating the trophy system and such.

Actualyl, ive had really no problem with this. When my fat 80 gig started to go on me last november (just after uncharted and skyrim released grrrr) i was able to back up the save files from UC3, Skyrim, Mass Effect 2, mlb the show, and God of War 3. At least, im pretty sure i was able to back up ME2.

I was able to back up most of my collection to an external before my phatty kicked the bucket, save for a few locked titles. It's becoming more of a pain in the ass cuz it seems like the newer titles are following this path.

I don't purchase a whole lot on the store so PS+ didn't ever seem worth it to get for cloud saves. I'm guessing the trend might continue next gen making it necessary to save files to Sony servers..

this is so annoying , i want to make my back up of dark souls and demon souls for formating the HD
