Yeah, I read this last night and didn't even bother to post it, its pointless, but they have been doing this for a while now.
$29 million profit is ok, I guess we will see the impact of the slim redesign next 1/4.
But I really couldn't gather much out of the latest report.

Well, I can't imagine that the PS2 accounts for the majority of the units sold. And although Nintendo has sold the most units overall with the Wii, there's no excuse for the PS3 to be lagging behind now.

Agreed, given they move units in Japan I would expect the PS3 to be at minumum 1.7 million units for the 1/4.
Could be as high as 2.2 given historic numbers.
But its all guess work.

I feel to save face they kind of had to throw in PS3 with PS2. Not because the PS3 is doing terribly (as console sales all round are pretty much down and will continue I think until next gen) but because of the sad situation they find themselves in with the Vita. They were always going to lump the handhelds together so I think they felt they kind of had to for the PS3 too.

Decent enough quarter for Sony as a decrease in net loss is one of their top priorities as a whole
