I think Killzone 2 looked better because of the post-processing. For one, you had a higher contrast of colors that lead to the game's unique atmosphere, whereas the target demo from E3 2005 was very bland.
Not to mention that we were still going through that 'untapped potential' phase. When the game finally arrived, everyone was on cloud nine.Last edited by Blacksite; 11-06-2012 at 00:12.

Yeah, Killzone 2 looked amazing. So did 3. And don't even get me started on Uncharted 3 : D
They really make the best looking 360 games look meh. Heck, it makez PC games look meh ;p Cell isn't overrated at all. Considering Cell is a almost 7 year old cpu.Last edited by KungMartin90; 11-06-2012 at 01:48.

Perhaps, though lets not pretend here. Despite how fast the ram is the small amout is still a crippling factor, and sorry, it ain't just about the games anymore, even if thats all "you" are concerned with. If nothing else, sure, it helped force devs to learn a few new tricks in programming and optimization.
Besides, don't these devkits usually have up to double the ram of the actual console as overhead for dev programs? That means we're talking a good ~2-8 gigs in the final beast.
And as far as the APU thing, I'll be the outlandish one who holds his breadth and hopes that the A10 BASED APU is just that. A 7750 I could see as bare minimum for staying relevant for about 5 years, but here's hoping they've soldered in an opteron 6380 to what will be the flagship radeon 8000 gpu

For the record, I've only just realised the specs for the next Xbox have been under our nose for some time....
Read the specs under "Stationary computing device".....

Dual power 7 CPU with 6 cores each @ 3.1 (thats a 12 core machine)
Custom GPU capable of SM 5.0 @ 825mhz
5 gb main memory
1.2 gb of video memory.
GCN archetecture.

Yeah, except everyone didnt read it properly, we all thought it was surface specs.
Looks like the next Xbox is going down the Wii U route with a seperate surface tablet however, or it could be a seperate device completly.
Edit: BTW I believe, these specs are pretty darn close, if not the entire truth as to what MS is doing, they seem fairly legit.

Why on earth would they want to go with a 10k SCSI hard drive instead of a SATA III SSD?!

It appears we also missed the I/O Connections that would not fit on a 7" Tablet. 4 U.S.B 3.0 ports, ethernet, component/HDMI, Optical audio etc... They are definitely going the Wii-U route with the exception the surface will be a very well capable device on it's own. Now SONY will have to step up it's game with the Vita/Orbis connectivity fight off the bat. They can't wait and bring it to the table later on with FW updates.
Looks to me like the nextbox may be more powerful than PS4. Unless SONY brings in a separate GPU. But I'm not too familiar with those specs and what they represent so I could be wrong. When the Bogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Chuck Norris.
when Chuck Norris goes to sleep every night, he checks under his bed for Daryl Dixon!!

that can't be for reals can it? dual CPU, and a GPU to boot.
A10 APU's will (for a console) likely have 67xx-68xx series GPUs right? an APU seems woefully underpowered when compared
assuming the PS4 were to have a stand alone GPU: could the APU be crossfired with a stand alone 6xxx series GPU?

Even if it was for a dev kit wouldn't a top of the line SSD drive still crush a 2.5" 10k drive? The only reason I could see them wanting to go with this kind of drive is to get fast speeds while keeping the cost down, but I would imagine a 10k drive is going to generate an insane amount of heat unless it is properly cooled! A lot of the 10k drives that I see are actually 2.5" drives housed in a 3.5" heat sink.

Here's the thing, how does MS hope to make their product competitively priced if they are throwing so much cash around on gimmicks (surface and kinect 2).
Sony is laser focused on the console alone, so I'm hopeful the ps4 will be better priced/spec'dLast edited by itachi73378; 11-08-2012 at 14:33.

I feel like it may be subsidized in a way. They are testing out those weird pricing plans. If those are the specs or close then they have something up their sleeves. I just wanna know what kind of crazy voodoo either of these guys ar gonna pul to really make these things illegitimate for their desired time period.

Sony PlayStation 4 Rumors Suggests Christmas 2013 Release Date
http://www.overclockersclub.com/news/33082/
Sony's next PlayStation console codenamed "Orbis" is slated for a holiday 2013 release, according to sources cited by VG247. The Japanese conglomerate has not yet confirmed even the existence of its supposed successor, but rumors have it that Sony could be prepared to launch the PS4 earlier than its closest competition, Microsoft's next Xbox. However, Microsoft also released the Xbox 360 12 months earlier than Sony, so its possible Redmond could replicate that feat. It has recently surfaced that an AMD A10 APU-powered PS4 dev kit were handed out to devs, which were reportedly outfitted with 256 hard disk storage, a Blu-ray drive along with 8GB/16GB RAM. The PS4 is in for some tough times when it does get released, as the gaming landscape has changed considerably since the PS3's launch with the advent of more people embracing mobile gaming.

fuck mobile gaming. that's just for the mass market. ps3/xbox has never been about mass market, it's been about gamers.
