Well im kinda worried about my ps3, i recently buy oblivion and the game was running slow and with a lot of framerate problems, i ask my friends if the have the same issues (at the very beginning when the red enemys appear it was imposible to understand what was happening), they answer me that they dont have any problems with it.
i saw on internet and on my friends house that the same game is working better for him, i also so that in other games, for example Dark souls im having a lot of frame rate issues and when i play the same game (same spot of the game and same blue ray) in his ps3 his game runs better....
i read that i have to change my settings on my ps3, but i think that tunning down the video settings is not the solution, other people told me that it could be the heat of my ps3, and i tryed this, i change the location of my ps3 and clear the vents with compressed air.
then i play oblivion and the game runs better that the previous time...
i dont know what to do, should i buy some kind of cooler.
shoud i give my ps3 to a specialist for a service?
i dont want format it because i have to clear my saved game data.... and dark souls/demon souls and other games i play doenst support back up data.
should i try something else?
ps: is possible to mantain the dark souls saved data without PS+?
thanks for all !

Hi,
Not sure if heat is the problem. My old PS3 had a lot of heat issues (I'm in Thailand and gets up to 40C+ here at times), but I never noticed any reduction in performance in games. If the machine got to hot it would just show a message saying it was getting too hot and urging me to turn off the PS3.
Maybe you could check with games running from the harddisk? If they are okay, perhaps it is related to your drive?
No idea though to be honest.

you've listed 2 games with poor performance to begin with.....i don't see any problem o.O
Both oblivion and Dark Souls have framerate issues. issues which are difficult to duplicate.
if you are having issues with other games please say

if we assumed that the heat was a reason of making the ps3 runs slow , means its basically got fixed by cleaning it out from dust by self compressed air in ps ..
i suggest u to try download the game trial from store and tried it again on ur ps .. if its not slow means it might be blue-ray reader issue ..
games you u r playing had issues anyways .. as same as Fijiandoce said
...
but good luck in fixing it ! =|
Mercy? whats mercy ?? XD

Also it depends on the model of your PS3, older models tend to have less performance than the newer ones.
Edit: they all should play oblivion though.
