SMC Name Change

'Senior Members Council' has been changed to 'Select Members Council', as voted unanimously by the staff.

This was done because we want to emphasize the SMC is for the best potential staff members, which may or may not be senior members. We want the best staff members possible and it would be limiting to restrict the choices among long-time members when there may be able, active, passionate members who have proven themselves in a shorter time frame. Finally, keep in mind that if any staff member disappoints we can demote that staff member at any time and give another member a chance.

Perhaps the "S" should of been dropped as this name is terrible, and only adds to the ongoing debate of the way things are done around here.

Perhaps "Initiate" would of been more appropriate?

we let the staff pick the name, so really that is what they decided on.

I personally like the initiate word though

Not really a debate in terms of the name we picked out. Judging by the "likes" received, you also seem to be the only one complaining about the name.

Select Members Council makes perfect sense.

Seriously? That is because it was "liked" by staff members more than anything. The name has no significance of any kind, and only helps fuel the "clubhouse" feeling I get from majority of the staff. Select is not by any means the BEST name that could of been chosen.

You guys removed the "dis-like", so only "likes" can be seen. Very one-sided.

I personally hate the "Select" in the name. Not like it matters though. :/

Group reinforcement is a lovely thing.

If you're going to change the name to circumnavigate the legitimate concerns brought up before, then at least make it proper: Selected Members Council.

Who else will complain? See, people here, they pretend to support things so that they aren't targeted to be removed. It's sad when they have to PM other members to try and get things said because they are afraid to speak out about issues. Just sayin'. Wanna get real about things? If I didn't have respect for these people, and have promised not to say who they are, I'd just post their PM's, msgs from steam, emails... yeah.

It is just a name. They are still called "SMC's" and that is all the matters. I honestly think some members of the forum were going to complain no matter what we changed the name to.

But changing it to select members...it just made me shudder. Why not put it at something like..."Cheap Ass Mods"...

Fear keeps most members from saying anything outside of PMs, and private chats. They don't want to be banned, or regarded as a hater. Its pathetic that a forum no longer supports the ability to speak a person's mind without it.

Honestly I don't like the name, I have been away for a while and was not here for the name change or I would have disagreed. but oh well it is what it is.
