Now, the company has announced that screenwriter Michael Arndt, who won an Oscar for best original screenplay for the 2006 Little Miss Sunshine, will be engaged in the project.
Arndt worked on such films as Toy Story 3, and also co-wrote the second film in the Hunger Games trilogy.
Earlier reports said that the new Star Wars films would introduce new characters. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia from the original trilogy may still appear as well. Entertainment Weekly also reported that Harrison Ford might also star in the new Star Wars in the famous role of notorious smuggler Han Solo.
Reports that LucasFilm, recently purchased by Disney for a some $4.05 billion, emerged in October, becoming a sensation. The Star Wars sequel trilogy will consist of Episodes VII, VIII and IX – following after Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi in the saga's chronology.
The first film in the trilogy is scheduled for release in 2015. Episodes VIII and IX are planned to hit the screens at intervals of "two to three years."
No director has yet been attached to the project, while George Lucas, the mastermind behind the original Star Wars movies, and his colleague Kathleen Kennedy, will produce the films, BBC reports.
so this star wars is going to be a little sunshine far far far away

I love the pun in the title lol. It's so unintentional, yet so funny.

Not officially confirmed, but it seems Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg are getting brought onboard to write 7 and 8. This is quickly going from nightmare to dream come true. It's like Disney finally woke up, or maybe this is Lucasfilm's decision. Either way...
And a tweet mentioned they would be producers as well.Kasdan worked on the scripts for two of the original "Star Wars" films, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, and wrote Raiders of the Lost Ark. Kinberg's credits include X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes and the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.
