New SMC Selection Process

People are forgetting that staff decisions will always be more of a monarchy then anything but this is an interesting approach to please some members.

I think this is the best way for the staff to select the next batch of SMC's or whatever we'll be called then lol.

I'm excited for this process to play out and think it would be awesome for the community to be a part of it!

We're not going to find a process that pleases everyone, but it's hard to think of a better compromise than this.

I have never seen a forum where the staff let the members choose the next moderator/staff member. This is more than enough compromise in my opinion. But I am an ass like that.

this is exactly how we chose our Head Students at the high school i went to....

for the most part, this system works.

if PSU expands (which it will

), this system becomes someways ridiculous. as the 'guy' who is more popular will get the posting so the process is moot...
however, for here and now, it is a great decision by the staff

Nominated in the first place will be up for voting. Not saying fear wouldn't be capable or something I like the guy a lot! Just saying that this way staff + regular members may be able to meet in the middle somewhere

Glad I ran across this thread because I have a question.

How does a member get himself banned, work around the ban, get permanently banned after getting caught with his 2nd account, have his 1st account unbanned and promoted to SMC?

I'm just curious. The guy isn't doing a bad job, honestly. A big change around in behavior he has shown since returning.

Well, Cuguy had him unbanned and Cuguy had him promoted, so ask him!

But as you said, he's currently a good poster, so I don't have a problem with it.

Solider has been great behind the scenes and doing a great job as SMC I haven't been around as long as some of the older members here never knew about the previous mentioned stuff but he's been a great addition to the team and proves you can get over the past and become a great member.

Soldier95B hasn't been a ball fella, well at least in my experience. I don't know how he was before when he got banned but I'm sure his changes and contribution was noticed by the staff, hence the promotion.

Basically it came down to this. We had a lengthy discussion about his returning. As with all previously banned members that we ask back, he came back understanding that if he fucked up even once, the ban goes back in place.

I felt in the past some people were banned unjustly, so I contacted some and got them to come back!

Everyone who comes back knows they are on tenuous ground until they prove they have changed.

I am a second chance kind of person... willing to give people the benefit of the doubt. Ghost_Rhayne, perfect example. He was on the path of being booted from here. I took a look, talked with him a few times. He got involved with PSU and now he is one of the most valuable members.

People can change... the ones who can't don't make it long here if asked back.

There are some people, to misquote a movie, that just want to see the site burn.

Others, see that they are being really, REALLY childish and change. Typically, those members are fantastic posters once they put their egos and antics behind

His posts were sometimes exaggerating but it wasn't enough to warrant a ban. He even wanted to leave from all the negativity against him. Glad that he stuck around.
