Pretty sure the jitter has to do with spikes in the ping. This is a common issue particularly with Cable internet, since it's shared amongst other people.

Agreed. Packets are a form of a PDU (data, and its stages of travel across a data stream). Loosing 100% would mean you don't have a connection..... Originally Posted by illbashu

I would say I am hitting less switches and routers on my route to washington, DC, than I am going to places closer to me. There must be more switches and routers in place, slowing down my ping as it travels through the network.

PINGTEST.NET code is nice site...But i check my speed using the http://www.ip-details.com/internet-speed-test.
My speed test results are,
7.02Mbps when downloading,
2.36Mbps when uploading...
