The brand isn't going away. They are selling all the assets off. That also includes the brands. Somebody will buy it, its iconic and has good brand association. So distribution will be shaky for a few weeks maybe a couple months til it is sorted out. Twinkies will survive. My speculation though, they are gonna shut down, lay off the entire force and then hire a non union force, or they will auction off everything and the new owners will hire a non union force.

I'll tell you why they had to sellout. back in the 80's, their twinkies and cupcakes had a heavier cream in the center, it was almost as thick as frosting and people liked that, they sold a ton of cupcakes and twinkies. Then for no reason, some dicksucker in that company thought it would be a good idea for them to cut corners and use a lighter based cream. point being, they started going the generic route. this selling of the brand serves them right imo. anyone stupid enough in business to change/fix something that isn't broken deserves to go bankrupt, imo.
