You thought Koloss was the 6th worst album of the year? Do you dislike Meshuggah in general or just that album specifically?
I thought it was a very good album, except for two boring songs ('I Am Colossus' and 'Break Those Bones').

GKMC was so over hyped, it's barely average
Best album of the year I believe would be Masta Ace & MF DOOM's MA DOOM-Son of Yvonne or Apathy's Fire walk with me
On a top ten list I'd throw in Life is Good, F&L2,Napalm,Keys to the Kuffs,Godz of the Serengeti,Give Me My Flowers While I can Smell Them,1999(Mixtape),Wing Zero Ep/N.E.R.D. Ep

The 3 best albums of the year that stand out for me:
Van Halen - A Different Kind Of Truth
Adrenaline Mob - Omerta (Features Russell Allen from Symphony X on vocals, Mike Portnoy on Drums - pure heavy metal)
I Am I - Event Horizon (ZP Theart's new band, pure tradition heavy metal, no lame effects on guitars)
Linux Mint 13 "Maya" with the MATE 1.6 desktop environment.
Long live the Penguin!

Meshuggah isn't too bad. I like ObZen a fair bit and Chaosphere is solid. Nothing is okay. I just thought Koloss's tracks lacked any sort of structure. It was more like, "let's just bang on our instruments and record that shit." And that's the kind of metal I don't like, when it's just noise.

Can't say I agree with that. The only song that sounds like that to me might be 'The Hurt That Finds You First'. It's the most chaotic song on the album, but I still like it.
I actually feel Koloss is their most easily digestible album. The pace is slowed down for the most part.

Your number 1 & 5 worst are in my top 10:
Random order:
10. Kottonmouth Kings - Mile High
9. Insane Clown Posse - Mighty Death Pop
8. Insane Clown Posse - Covered, Smothered, and Chunked/The Extra Pop Emprium (they're just bonus albums)
7. Twiztid - Abominationz
6. Prozak - Paranormal
5. Mad Child - Dope Sick
4. Necro - Murder Murder Kill Kill
3. La Coke Nostra - Masters Of The Dark Art
2. Snowgoons - Dynasty
1. Army Of The Pharaohs - In Death Reborn
Pretty much only listen to underground, like what I mentioned above + artists like Hopsin, Tech N9ne etc..

I bought all of those listed above except the Wu-Block album and that's just because I couldn't wait and dl'd an early leak. I dl'd early leaks of almost all the others as well, but once I decided that they were worth it I bought digital copies from iTunes. Except the neil young and Dylan albums. i bought physical copies of those.
All your bacon are belong to me.

Metallica, Pantera, Bathory, Ensiferum, and Black Sabbath are up there. Opeth, In Flames, and Dethklok are all solid too (despite the fact that Dethklok makes fun of the genre, they do a pretty solid job sonically). But again, I do like Meshuggah, I just wasn't a fan of Koloss.

Maybe outside of the general taste here, but Ed Sheeran's + is one of my favorite albums of all time, not just this year. Although I think it released last year outside of the US.

I'm just curious, since you categorized Koloss as 'noise'. I assumed you normally don't listen to Metal as heavy as Meshuggah, which seems to be the case.
I'm curious to see what you think of a Brutal/Technical Death Metal album, like None So Vile by Cryptopsy. Have you listened to that kind of stuff yet?

In Flames is pretty heavy. And Bathory too. I've listened to Cryptopsy, though I've never heard that album. Can't say I'm a fan of the band. With Meshuggah, I like almost everything of theirs. I did listen to Koloss a second time, and while I don't think it's very good, it's not bad enough to make my top ten worst list.

Well, In Flames may be Death Metal and Bathory may be Black Metal, but they're both on the more melodic side. After all, In Flames helped pioneer the 'Melodic Death Metal' genre, while Bathory helped pioneer the 'Viking Metal' genre (which is Black Metal that is more on the epic and melodic side). I'm not saying that's a bad thing, as they are (or were) great bands who put out some classic albums. But Metal can get much heavier than them.
With that said, Metal can be 'heavy' in different ways. Stoner/Doom Metal bands like Electric Wizard have the deepest and most thundering sound, Metalcore bands like Converge and Dillinger Escape Plan are flat out chaotic and intense, and Brutal Death Metal bands like Cryptopsy combine fast, chaotic instrumentation with heavy death vocals.

Pretty weak year for music.
Only thing of any note was Soundgarden - King Animal and Hurt - The Crux. OSI - Fire Make Thunder was bloody good, probably not on par with the self titled and Blood, but awesome nontheless
