Adding hotmail to your Vita email app

For those of you wondering how to add your hotmail account, follow these steps.

1. When adding your email, change IMAP to POP

Example

Name - Lethal
Email Address - lethalnfs@hotmail.com
Protocol - POP

Incoming Mail Settings
Host name - pop3.live.com
Username - lethalnfs@hotmail.com
Password - (your hotmail password)

SSL - SSL
Authentication - USER/PASS
Port - 995

Outgoing Mail Settings
Host Name - smtp.live.com
Username - lethalnfs@hotmail.com
Password - (Your hotmail password)
SSL - SSL
Authentication - LOGIN
Port - 587

What if I don't want to use pop? I would like to view my emails everywhere not just on my Vita.

Setting it up is just like setting the POP3 in any mail client. Problem with POP3 though, is that it won't sync deliveries to other clients you're using.

I have email accounts on Gmail, Hotmail, and Yahoo.

You can still view your emails from wherever you want. That is just how to get the Vita to load up your hotmail.

So this is just a work around, and my emails are still going to be delivered to my Microsoft Outlook as well?
Or do I just change it after?

No you can't. If you use the Vita and have it delivered, and also use a mail client, not a web mail page, the same mail won't get delivered.

I don't use a mail client like Outlook or anything. I thought he was asking about viewing his mail from his phone and such. I have my mail going to my phone and Vita.

That just means you are going to your email, it isn't coming to you on the phone. Anyways... you still using the 3g on it?

The emails come to the phone. All my accounts are linked through the iPhone email client. The same way they go to the Vita. Am I not understanding?

You can use the browser to log into the webmail site. The problem is that some sites aren't supported by the browser version the vita uses. Yahoo mail for example. It will allow you to redirect to an older version of their webmail client. See:

Basically, POP is a "Post office Protocol". What it does, in this case, is you'll use a client to contact a web server, and request the emails. Once they are delivered to their destination (your email client), they are deleted off the server, and are saved locally on your device that has requested the email. You won't have access to have them delivered again, and those emails are tied to that client that received them.
